Nov security update

I put the VZ sim card in before starting the phone. I heard that if I had started it before putting in the sim card it would have installed the November update. I'm gonna wait a few days and if I don't get it I'll take out the sim card and reset it to see if it will update before I put the sim in.
Yeah try that

Phone was getting confused with BT between speaker, galaxy watch and buds. Wouldn't auto-connect to things and would suddenly disconnect. Sideloaded update and works well now

I'm just going to update manually every month to be honest with you guys. I think it's so easy download to the PC and let it do its work lol

I am returning the phone. I went with unlocked to avoid dealing with carriers. I have never, ever had to side load, why it'"s an issue now is no one's clue, but no. I am not putting up with it.

Unless you buy an iPhone, you could encounter the same even with official US unlocked Samsung phones, they go thru the same carrier certification and susceptible to delays. Basically buy an iPhone if you want useless carriers to not have any say.

Same thing happened last year with P5 the unlocked update was delayed 1 week. After that all updates were sent same day.

True. It was only 1 delayed update last year. This will probably be the same.

I understand with an unlocked phone you can jump between the three main providers in the USA; however, with an unlocked phone you can also use an MVNO that runs off the towers you need.

I have always received my sec updates and OS updates on my 4XL on the day they were released, and I have always been running on Verizon towers.
For a few months it was US Mobile, since then Tracfone (which Verizon purchased last year and still updates when released).
Just asking!

No, that's false. I have had Nexus and Pixel for 10 years, this has never, ever happened before. I have gotten every update on day 1, because that's the damn point. I have never had to side load anything.

Google screwed this update up, just cop to it and fix it.

I don't think it is false, at least not for me. I've had Pixels on Verizon since the OG Pixel 1. It didn't happen a lot, but Verizon has delayed the monthly updates at least a handful of times since 2016. We didn't get them the first available day like everyone else. Sometimes they never told us why, others were for carrier specific certification or updates they modified. That's why if you look at the change log, there are different versions for Verizon, and other carriers I assume, for the same monthly update. If that were not the case, wouldn't the version numbers always be the same if they were sent out at the same time to everyone with no difference?

Nope every Nexus, Pixel phone irrespective of carrier model or unlocked model goes thru carrier certification. Great that you have got updates on day one all the time. Generally Verizon is pretty good at certification (I know not in this current instance) and most of the delays (few days) are generally from T-Mobile or sometimes AT&T. And even I have had every Google store unlocked Nexus/Pixel till date.

But again I don't expect this delay on Verizon every month. But every now and then it does happen. And there are easy workaround like even putting an inactive sim from certified carrier to pull the update etc but that's a different discussion.

Also, I'm but excusing Google. They suck for bending over back to useless US carriers to certify the updates even on Google store unlocked models. But it's what it is and that's how it's always been, nothing specific to Pixel 6. I had shared a reddit thread earlier here on how the entire carrier certification works on Pixel/Nexus phones. But bottom line, carriers still certify updates on unlocked phones as well in the US.

Being that the same thing happened last November with only the Verizon Pixel 5's and all other Pixel 5's received the update on time, I would think Verizon is holding back this update for some reason....not Google.

And I don't personally believe the Google forum "Platinum Expert" saying that everyone has to side load the update. That's one method, but I think Verizon will release it eventually. Probably making "5G enhancements" like last November

The android security bulletin states that the update BEGINS to be pushed out to pixel devices on day one, and takes up to one and a half calendar weeks for all pixel devices to receive it. The update was released on November 1. This is only November 6.

Doesn't typically take this long after release.

Verizon's site states that the update has been released for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, as of October 28th. But still nothing available for us on Verizon. So is Verizon holding it for some reason, or a glitch between Google & Verizon?

I finally broke down and sideloaded my phone with the Verizon version of the update.
It has been almost 10 years since I have had to mess with Android tools to load an update. At the time I had a Galaxy Nexus and Verizon was would take weeks to push the updates.

I have a question concerning the apps optimizing during an update. Samsung phones optimize very fast, but my Pixel phones take forever, sometimes over an hour. Is it normal for pixels to take so long to optimize apps?

My Pixel 4XL and wife's Pixel 5 have always taken a long time on the optimizing apps screen during an update.
