Who is using what and why? So far I’m using Nova but I’m thinking about making the switch.

I use Nova Beta 8.03 on all my phones except my Fold. I use stock on my fold because it functions best with fold

I used to use Nova but went to stock on the fold 4 since the task bar doesn't work on Nova. Nova on the fold 3 was buggy also, the icons were delayed appearing on the inner screen when opening the phone. The developers at that time said they were not going to support folding phones.

Nova Launcher for me. Despite the loss of the One UI task bar it is far more customisable than the default launcher.

Am running Nova Launcher 8.0.3 Beta and so far, I cannot detect any issues using this on the Fold4. Very fast and slick and hardly makes a dent in my battery usage.

The real reason I’m thinking of switching is that I also get delays when opening the app drawer and when opening the inner screen. I’m not really sure if nova is the culprit but I want the phone to be as fast as possible.

Nova was the culprit on the fold 3. Haven't had a issue on the fold 4 with stock. I was hoping maybe nova addressed this on the fold 4, but it don't look like it.

Hmm that’s interesting. Guess I’ll have to try stock to see what that does. Not looking forward to having to set up everything again….who am I kidding any excuse to use it will be fun for me. Thanks for the advice.

Stock (but on a Samsung A21, not a fold). I used Nova in the past for quite a bit on my Android Tablets, but stock has now evolved to the point of not needing it anymore (for me).

If the taskbar doesn't speak to you I would stay with Nova. If you do have the delay in icons appearing I found a fix but you have to do it every few days. When it starts the delay you have to go into settings switch icons to stock, close settings then go back and set icons back to your choice. After doing that it'll work for a few days. That was the only issue I had with Nova myself.

I've never, either on my 3 or now 4, had this icon delay issue some are speaking of... maybe I've just been lucky {shrug}.

I use Nova's recents taskbar which is fine for me. Pretty much 98.95314% of the time I use the same apps daily, so they're always available to me on that taskbar.

And, as I've often said, being able to have a larger than stock will allow grid, let's me get everything that I want on one screen... no folders, no edge panels, just one tap away.

Plus, Nova allows you to resize widgets to a greater extent.

IMHO, if you don't care about separate outer and inner display setups, (which I don't), can be happy with Nova's recents taskbar vs stock's "dock taskbar," or simply don't care about it, and/or greater customization is important to you, then Nova is the best way to go.

Do you use different icons or do you use stock? Just wondering if that could be issue.

I use stock icons, nor do I use any themes, but I'm not sure about those who report the delay issue, I just know that I don't experience it.
No stutter or delays on Nova Launcher Beta 8.0.3 with round icons and my own wallpaper, (not theme).

I dropped that beta because in my app drawer, using the smallest icon size that I could, with app names on, it would cut off the top of each icon, {shrug}.

No such issues with 7.

Well that answers that question. I had the delay issue on my fold 3, haven't tried nova much on the fold 4 to know if it's still a issue. It was a issue on the fold 3, enough that the developers replied to emails about it that they are not going to support the fold phones.

I'm going to use Nova again for awhile and see if the issue is still there.

Well I went to stock and it did fix the delay issue. Still getting things set up to my liking. I’ll try it out for a few more days before I decide which way to go permanently. One thing I’m really missing is the vertical app drawer. I thought good lock could change that but I can’t find it if it’s in there.

I'm rockin' Samsung UI.

Same here. My Flip 3 is my first modern Samsung... this thing has options on top of options on top of options, I can't imagine someone would need MORE options lol. But I'm coming from pixels ;)

For me it's not the amount of options, it's the available options, just the small extra options, customization. Nova was doing gestures before Google was thinking about it, that's why I never seen the big deal when Google came out with gestures, I've been doing gestures for years and a lot more gestures options. Scrolling dock is another small feature over stock. I can change the app drawer to scroll vertical or horizontal, I can change the animation of scrolling on the app drawer. I can change icons.

They are small things, but Nova is more customizable. You don't need a different app to customize Nova, I bet most people don't know about good lock, my friends didn't. I'll say it, if it wasn't for good lock or third party launchers I would probably look at using iPhones more. I make stock work by using good lock which for me needs more work. I can't think of anything that stock launcher does that Nova doesn't do, there probably is something, but I can think of things Nova does that stock don't, I listed a few above. Take goodlock away and stock isn't that great, for me at least. In the world of Android it's suppose to be customization and choices, so I prefer the options be available and I'll decide if I want it or not. You are correct though, there are lots of options on Android phones and nobody will use all of them, but it's nice to have the choices.

Well didn't make it 24 hours and the delay returned on Nova. I wish the developers would change their mind and update Nova for folds.
