November Security Update (Also Saturation/Nav Bar Fade Update)

CONFIRMED....This worked for me... Immediately had update ready to install after restart. Loving the new color modes. Also updated to November Security Patch.
Me too. With new color mode make me feel like this is the pixel I have been waiting.

Tried this earlier with no luck, went and tried again and still no luck. I tried multiple times including restart and also shutdown. Pixel 2 unlocked with Verizon sim.

That's what I have, too, and it didn't work multiple times for me, either.

Didn't work for my unlocked P2 w/verizon sim either. 2 reboots, nothing.

I'm not arguing the reason they do staged rollouts , I've been with nexus phones since the early days. My point is the length of their staged rollouts is a much longer rollout than iOS or windows or a Samsung phone.

It's a matter of policy not a matter of technical limitation of server capacity.

Go to the Samsung forums or Apple forums... For Pixel and Nexus devices when there are updates you hear much more complaining about not receiving updates sooner. On the other forums you won't.

Though some of this is because they never allowed you to manually check for updates and get them. That is supposed to be changing. On all those other systems when there is an update you could always get it by manually checking for update and it would download.

The reason you see more complaining about not getting the update was because that's one of the selling points of the Nexus/Pixel phones. Samsung doesn't mention updates as one of their selling points. Apple does, but they don't appear to do much in the way of staged rollouts. I remember talking to a Verizon CSR after they got the iPhone, and I remember them complaining about issues with iOS, and how they weren't allowed to do much in the way of testing prior to rollout. So their techs were being flooded with issues about the recent iOS update. And while users may get impatient with the length of time the rollout takes, better to take your time and catch potential serious bugs rather than put them all out in a week and then have more devices affected and needing a fix quick.

As for the Check For Update button now forcing the update, I haven't had any issues with it working as specified. Last Monday, November 5th, I updated my Nexus 6p, and both my Pixel 1 & 2 to the November patch. Both Pixel showed the update within seconds of checking. The Nexus 6p didn't show up right away, but then I saw an update notification in the status bar about 10-15 minutes later.

I completely agree with those reasons they do the staged rollouts as they do and understand that. I'm usually one explaining to those new to a Nexus why they haven't gotten the update yet. My ONLY point in all that was a poster indicated that server capacity to roll out an update was one of the driving factors for Google in why they do it this way which I don't agree.

I've always been able to sideload updates so waiting was never a factor for me if I didn't want to wait. But on both my Pixel 2XL and Pixel 2 no update yet if I check for updates, so they still haven't ironed out seamless updates yet. Possibly an issue with certain carrier based builds I suppose.

I just chatted with support and they are telling me the update will be pushed by Verizon for my Pixel 2. I really thought by buying a Pixel, that I would not be depended on a carrier for the updates. I thought those would come directly from Google.
