November Security Update (Also Saturation/Nav Bar Fade Update)

One or two people in the forum, based on the Android Central article are saying the screen is still not as good as a Samsung after the update. Well, according to this video and my visual acuity the colors on the Pixel 2XL looks better. I'm not trying to be biased either.

Also, I wonder if the people who claimed burn in left their adaptive brightness on out of the box and at 50% screen brightness? Screen brightness was at 50% out of the box, which is too bright in my opinion. I wonder what their usage was like as well. On the phone for 7+ hours at a high brightness setting will do it. Or go outside in hot temperatures for a few hours with a high brightness setting. Warm to hot phone, plus hot OAT, and high brightness level equals burn in.

Any validity to the Pixel 2 XLs in panda receiving the update first? Would make sense because those phones were delivered later.

Whats up with the white on the samsung? Doesn't look nearly as white as the P2...

As far as screen burn in I never used it for more than a peek at full brightness, keep my phone below 40%...I have the button burnin with in 7 days, I think it came that way.

I have used a really bright wallpaper since Oct 20th and still have no burn in anywhere but the buttons...so go figure, I don't know what going on but it doesn't concern me one bit. The button burn in can only be seen on a gray background and even than it is super difficult to see.

I received my new Verizon Panda 64gb yesterday Nov. 6th, ( 2 days early from what was quoted), and when I saw I only had the September security patch, I updated the phone right away with no problem. I love the new color options! In fact I love everything about this phone!

Google store unlocked model on T-MOBILE. Forced the update by sticking in an old AT&T sim which I had lying around and then restarted the phone. Hit check update, was offered the update and successfully updated. After the update was complete switched back to T-MOBILE sim. Crappy T-Mobile, god I hate these carriers. Just removing the SIM and connecting to WiFi to check update doesn't work since the phone is still last associated with T-Mobile, so had to put in an AT&T sim and restart. Either way I'm happy I got the latest update now

Read the below Reddit thread for more info on how update process works and more details on this.

Still no update for me. 2 XL unlocked from Google with Verizon sim. Checking for updates says I'm current. Just impatient...

I'm in that same boat.... 2XL Google Play version on Verizon.... No update and mashing "check for update" just returns "up to date".... Never had this issue before on the Pixel XL Google Play on Verizon...

Funny flip of the script I guess. The new script is: " Don't buy unlocked, you'll have to wait for updates. Buy the Verizon one so you get the updates right away" ;)

Not so funny for me though this year since I have an unlocked one :-)

Thanks for that link! That should be required reading for all Pixel owners.

So, I got my P2XL last night and was setting it up. The November update showed up as I was setting up and putting in the SIM (AT&T). Once I put it in, the update disappeared. I then removed the SIM, but it didn't come back whether I manually checked, or rebooted. I'm porting the SIM to Verizon, so maybe it'll come up again?

Can I do anything to offset this like changing my security setting on my home wifi I don't roam when I'm outside of the house

Only thing to truly protect yourself is to run through a VPN.

Google Pixel 2 unlocked on T-Mobile haven't received any update yet. I did buy it at Best Buy unactivated though.

so my beta release only had an option to enable vivid colors ,no profiles like earlier screen shots...am I missing something
