ps. the PXL2 looks very interesting and also the V30. Was thinking about trading my S8 in for one of them but unsure which.

That's the great thing about Android (and bad). We have so many choices haha. I would say keep your Galaxy S8 for now. Just enjoy it a bit and maybe down the road pick up a Pixel 2 XL.
