I've noticed that the Pixel Ambient Services is no longer showing "Now Playing" on the lock screen. It was working w/o issue, and just stopped.

I checked to see that it was still enabled in settings, and it was.

When I looked at the Now Playing history, it shows lots of songs, but the last one was on Nov 7 at 5:25 PM.

Anyone else notice Now Playing no longer working?

I noticed it didn't work for a while. Just came back recently, but it seems to be intermittent. Every once in a while, it'll show a song playing on a TV commercial or on a show, then the next one it won't.

I have not paid much attention to mine, but last night my son told me his Pixel 3 recognized the songs my daughter (11) was playing on the piano. I thought that was pretty cool, and unexpected.

His phone's Now Playing does seem to function better than my 3XL, not sure what the reason could be.

Yeah, it's been very spotty for me. At a show on Saturday it recognized several songs but nothing since then and I've several commercials play on the TV today that it's picked up in the past. My P2XL was great until the Nov update. My P3XL had been spotty since I got it.

Honestly I never notice that's it's not working....it may miss a song here and there but I get something every day.

Now playing was working sporadically at first, but now not at all. I consider it a promised feature that was ultimately not included.

I sat in a bar last Sunday evening and Now Playing rarely identified any music playing. It was quicker for my son to hit Soundhound than waiting to see if Now Playing caught the song. There needs to be button to start Now Playing as there's no way of knowing if it's doing anything or not.

It seems to me that Now Playing's catalog is really not very deep. It works for me fine for any "hits", classic rock songs (that everyone knows already anyway), etc. But any deeper sort of cut and forget about it. I'm disappointed in it so far.

Mine appears to be working but when I looked back at the history I noticed a gap that spanned about a week that included the dates mentioned. Probably an issue that Google resolved without a peep.

My experience has been different but it is true that they don't have everything in the database.

Mine has started working pretty regularly again. Radio songs, TV shows and commercials, etc.

Yes. The catalog is not as extensive. Remember that it is only stored locally and does not require data connection. That may be a reason why it is limited.

This service intermittently stops, i have to clear Ambient services cache and clear cache of google app to restore this.
Also the option to add Now Playing History shortcut to home screen is no longer available

didn't even realize it, but mine seems to have stopped working too. the last song in the history was noted as November 14th. How do you clear Ambient services cache? I didn't see that listed in my apps, only Google.
