Now Playing

Lol.

No, married 35 years and, quite frankly, no longer let her get the best of me!

Heck, I might even throw her favorite top in the washing machine/dryer tonight just so I can watch it shrink. :)

A good plan! A devious plan. Seems that some of the best plans are devious...

It is a cool feature when in a bar. At home / in my truck it isn't so useful since it doesn't know some of my stuff (odd stuff) but also just because I know what is playing since it is my music :P.

Wanna read my divorce settlement before you do that? Her top won't be the only thing that shrinks - :D

Now playing doesn't work for me turned it on and settings, went to YouTube and play top 20 songs didn't hit once

It doesn't work for songs playing on your device (it assumes you know what those are as you chose them or know where to look them up).

It works to identify songs playing from a different source where you might not know the artist/track name.

I could use a slightly larger font on the lock screen, but otherwise agree with most folks here - I like this feature much more than I thought I would and would gladly give up more storage space for a larger Db.

I was playing songs on my laptop with my phone sitting next to or on top of it didn't acknowledge once

make sure you don't have some other app interfering with it. Works really well for me. I was sitting in a restaurant a couple hours ago with my phone on the table and it nailed every song that played within about 30 secs or less.

I am stunned at how well this feature works. It has worked in a nightclub, a noisy restaurant and a few other places I didn't think it could manage to pull the sound out from the ambient noises. It's amazing, and scary.

I figured out my issue AOD screen has to be on all the time, mine was set to tap to wake up

I have AOD Display off and my Now Playing works. I do have to tap the screen to see the song playing but it does work with AOD off.

I have the Now Playing history app installed. It is pretty cool in that it keeps a history of songs it identified. I did not go anywhere but watched Walking Dead and Modern family last night and somewhere in there it picked up 3 songs from the shows or commercials.

Auto Shazam is also very cool because it will pick up nearly every single song by always listening and using an internet connection for matching, but then you risk the NSA logging all your nefarious conversations.

Maybe one day Google will allow a Now Playing database size option. I have lots of gigs of space on my phone and would happily allow a few gigs for better music identification.

I am going to have a competition. I will turn on auto Shazam and Now Playing and see how many more songs Shazam picks up during tonight's baseball game.

I just discovered Now Playing does not work at the same to Auto Shazam is on. I guess they both can't listen at the same time so I can't see how many more songs Shazam gets tonight.

I listen to Radio Paradise a lot, and I'm frequently surprised when Now Playing recognized some pretty obscure songs. I'm liking this feature more and more all the time.

I was excited about this feature but I find that it recognizes what's playing so infrequently compared to something like SoundHound that I don't think it's of much use to me.

And, I believe the difference is that Now Playing uses a local database stored on your device whereas SoundHound queries the cloud constantly throughout the day in order to identify music.

I can't imagine how big Now Playing's database is, but would not be surprised to learn that it is limited to the Top 100 lists for several different genres (Country, Hip Hop, Rock, etc.)

Your probably right but the end result is the same. It's not really all thar useful a feature in most cases.
