Now that HP acquired Palm, anyone changing their mind jumping ship to the Evo?

Wow! The cards are the one thing I'll really miss about WebOS. Not that it's "fun" to flick cards closed but I've become quite good at opening multiple apps simultaneously then flicking back and forth as they load. Maybe I have some A.D.D. but I can post to twitter, check facebook, check Pre and Android Central and not skip a beat.

I don't believe leap is the same. Doesn't that show the homescreens not running apps? I will dedicate one of those home screens as an app launcher in place of WebOSs.

Yeah, I know leap is home screens and is therefore not the same feature as webOS's card view for open apps, but can't you do a long press of the home button to see icons of your last six apps (does this work the same way in sense as vanilla Android?)? I like having multiple apps open too, but in reality I never have more than three or four (mainly just a few browsers and slacker) open at a time, so Androids multitasking should suffice for me. Plus, I'm sticking to what I said about not liking the card interface. The idea/functionality is great, I just don't like the look of it I guess. Either way, even if I might end up missing it, it's not enough to stop me from getting an Evo.

Palm has already stated that this acquisition won't change their existing hardware release schedule. So there still may be some new WebOS phones coming this year. Will this change my plans to get an EVO? Heck no. The Pre was my first and last Palm device. I have no desire to buy anymore of their beta hardware. Besides, I've already moved onto to Android in the form of a Hero and am loving it.

yup there beta hardware was the pre and the finished product was the pre plus i felt betrayed :(

however i don't think the hero is better then the pre but everyone has there own preference so cudos :)

EVO all the way!

I am very disappointed with Palm right now, and won't consider getting a Palm device again unless something drastic changes.

In a weird way I can be thankful my upgrade eligibility is on Sept1. It gives me the summer for all the announcements and phone releases to come out before I have to make a decision. I'll still get to play with the Evo all day at work so I think I'll survive.

If Palm gets a 4G phone out with snapdragon, a front and rear facing camera and a bigger screen, I'm sticking with Palm. Otherwise, it's Evo.

i have a funny feeling that sprint will be getting the pre plus. and maybe this time next year the c40 will be out.

Yeah i dont think HP will be jumping into the mobile market so quick as i already read they probably will come out with a notebook or tablet(most likely a tablet since is the booom now) runing on a brand new webos OS.

I'm still getting the EVO, if and when Palm comes out with a "New" killer device, I'll take a look at it then and go from there. I'm glad HP acquired them, and hope that there able to really make WebOS into something great, love the idea of a WebOS tablet as well..

I am sticking with the Evo also. Even if Palm were to announce some sort of "magical" device before the Evo comes out, I know that they won't have made any big strides in the software yet in that short amount of time. Everything they showed at their developers conference last week had a time frame of fall of this year. My guess is, they will get this merger over with, then buckle down and come up with a new device(s) that they will relveal to us at CES 2011.

Makes sense to me, I think CES 2011 will also include WebOS 2.0 as well.

I'm on the fence. My main reason for the switch was the anxiety that developers wouldn't continue to work on webOS if they felt the platform was dying. With HP apparently making a strong push for webOS, it may promote more development and I may decide to hang in there.

Love webOS, and the size of the EVO is still a bit of a concern of mine.

Its no bigger than an iPhone, and only a little bigger than an N1/Incredible. Its plenty pocketable.

the nice thing with Sprint is that I can upgrade every year!
I'll be in line to get the EVO and give Palm/HP a year to develop something.

Maybe WebOS can pull me back next year... maybe not.

I am also switching. It seems almost like the release date of the EVO is directed at us Premier Sprint customers who bought the Pre on day one.

Maybe I just have a new phone desire sickness.

I am actually looking forward to seeing what android can do. WebOS had a bunch of potential but the hardware has fallen short for me.

I would like to see a demo of how notifications on the sense UI compare to WebOS. I really like the notifications of new emails and texts pop up at the bottom of my screen even when my phone is sleeping on the touchstone.

I am afraid I will also miss the Touchstone chargers. I currently have one on my desk at home and one stuck to the dashboard of my truck.

Ya I'm deffinatelly picking up the Evo and I'm pretty sure that Palm won't have anything till next year and even then I will have to think about jumping ship back to them.
