Now that we can compare the G6 and S8...

I don't think the S8 blows the G6 away at all. And the fact you prefer your V20 to both shows the S8 won't be easily blowing away the competition. It comes down which featuers on each phone mean more to you.

The S8 specs as a whole may be stronger than the G6s but...

I think the G6 2:1 screen can hold it's own against the S8 and I personally prefer the flat glass over the curved glass.

The dual cameras/wide angle sound like can be so useful to use and camera interface looks much better use of space. The S8 camera may still be a better camera... but still mainly a carryover from last year. They left themselves open by doing that and not going with dual.

I really like the overall look and design of the G6 over S8.

Hate the FPS placement on the S8... such a bad afterthought in design and think it will be such an annoyance. People may bypass logging in through retina but what about using FPS in bank apps, or other apps using FPS (assuming retina not supported)... how about Samsung pay?

And again... 3000 mah battery?!

I can live without the autofocus 8mb front face camera, the 821 over 835 and other things for what the G6 has.

To me the S8 just feels like a Note 7 without the pen and minor upgrades. With all that said, I'm still waiting on trying to see one, hold one, and hear reviews.

I just checked our companys account on the AT&T website and I can get the S8 for $299. So it's only $50 more than what I can get the G6 from using my companys account so fortunately price is not an issue.

The phones I really am waiting for now is the iPhone 8 and Note 8... the Note 8 with be what the S8 should have been (hopefully)... with an S-pen.

Sounds like S8 blows away G6 but I prefer my V20 to either.

I prefer the flat screen but the Samsung camera is much better in low light and for average snapshots. The Sammy processor is more efficient and then there is the AMOLED that beats LG all by itself.

Thats subjective. Many prefer the ips display over AMOLED. The yellow tint of AMOLED is exactly why I hate it. You get used to it but if you look at another phone next to it you notice it all over again.

Anyone changing their mind one way or the other?

After that presentation I think I made the right decision going with the G6. The G8 looks excellent but that curved screen just ruins it for me. Entirely too fragile and no way to protect the screen without using something like an Otterbox. Everything else they announced, which wasnt much, I already have besides DeX. Facial recognition doesnt interest me at all and that odd placement for the fingerprint reader is, well odd. I dont know how I'll deal with this screen style on the Note 8 but I guess Ill have to get a pretty substantial case.

Bixby looks interesting but just like all other manufacturer voice apps, I have a feeling its going to be pretty limited for quite some time and quite a bit of it can be done with google assistant and google now.

The Gear 360 presentation was kind of embarrassing and awkward.

DeX is pretty freakin cool. Probably my favorite feature.

And where the heck is the price???

Overall the presentation was odd, especially all the people walking through the crowd with phones. Kind of creepy actually.

Edit: Ok I see the price.

Verizon - $720 for the S8 and $840 for the S8+
At&t and T-Mobile - $750 for the S8 and $850 for the S8+

Best Buy will offer $100 off.
TMobile Arctic gray is $650 on Samsung website.

It is so hard to choose between these two gorgeous and sleek devices. I feel like it will be a much closer horse race between these two than in previous iterations... The G6 brought it l to this one, and the S8 and S8+ are for sure making a splash... I guess we'll see how this goes!

If I had to choose right now, it'd be the G6. I like how it's a "more compact" 5.7" device and I really enjoyed my LG G3 experience. I'd gladly give it another go-round.

Ive talked to a few people since getting mine and it seems the main deciding factor is the curved screen. You either love it or hate it. The rest of the specs dont seem to be making enough of a difference to sway the people Ive spoke to and it always comes back to the displays.

This is interesting! I suppose the curved screen would play some kind of role in decision making. Curved screens + tempered glass screen protectors = difficulty.

Precisely why I went G6. No other feature was a deciding factor besides the flat screen. Everything else was just a bonus.

Yup! I love my Honor 8 but the curved screen at the edges makes tempered glass screen protectors a little... Wonky. 🤣

This plus the FPS location for me.

Yep. I went to best buy to play with the s8's and they are really beautiful devices. I think they are extremely awkward to hold and operate. I don't know what they are thinking with the FPS. I think they are trying to get everyone to use the eye scanner but seems like a waste of time to me. I'm very happy thus far with the G6.

Got to play with an 8 and 8+ at my local costco... as I suspected those edge screens are awful. Impossible to grasp either device without touching them. I would probably need to deactivate that edge swipe menu feature, and maybe use launcher that relocates all icons towards the center of the screen.

G6 would be my choice, just based on ergonomics alone... forget about anything else.

STUNNING LOOKING!!! I cant state this enough. So sleek and just fresh looking. They made the iPhones look like ipod players from ~15+ years ago.

The G6 is truly a gorgeous device.
