Now, who wants a metal phone?

Which bit?

The inside. The frame, the shell, the chassis?

Apple use glass, metal, n the outside of a device because of its tactillity in the hand. Not for engineering. Glass is awful for anything, aluminium is light but ductile and requires anodising to be of any use on the shell.

Rubberised plastic is the best material for the outside of a phone. Its robust, doesn't scratch, or chip, or stop radio waves. Its grippy and it absorbs shock. Until apple rocked up with its warped hipster approach, all phones were built with it. Apple have turned a tool into a piece of jewellery.
I would say if feasible for the back and sides. I don't know that it would change the issues being discussed here with the iPhone 6+ but it would interest me for other manufacturers like HTC especially if they elected to have removable batteries in their phones. Being able to switch between the different types of back panels is a nice option to have.

Again this is just my opinion on it.

I personally don't mind plastic, but I don't like how the sides of my galaxy s5 look (very fake and cheap) and how it creeks

I like the idea of a metal frame around the device and some kind of plastic on the back (like the note 4, though I'm not sure if that is the best back material)

I'm actually planning on getting the Sony Xperia Z3, which has metal and glass on the back, which I'm not sure I'll like, but I think that's the phone for me right now

I also like the M8 a lot, and I do like the look of that with the full metal body.
I like the iPhone 6 as well, so I do like metal phones. I haven't ever had a metal phone though, so if I like them for my daily usage remains to be seen

^ To me there's nothing wrong with plastic when implemented tastefully. To me that does NOT include trying to make plastic LOOK like metal like Samsung had done for so long. Just use the real thing...and I'm glad Samsung finally got the memo. They could have foregone the metal ring-around-the-phone and implemented a tastefully done plastic but chose not to, possibly because of the negative press they got for using wanna-be metal. You gotta admit though, the Note 4 and Alpha are just plain sexy.

^ I have to agree somewhat. I mean, what kind of pockets should OEMs design for? Tight jeans worn by an obese person? Baggy saggy jeans? Slim fit dress pants? Skin tight pants? Roomy cargo pants? Oh, the average pocket you say? What are the dimensions of the average pants pocket? How tight or loose is the average pocket? Too many variables and I think that may be why OEMs don't put much, if any, focus on that.

If that is the case, that is just one more reason not to get an iPhone, they obviously don't test them for pockets, so hey, I won't test them with my own money. But they wouldn't care, they sell millions regardless. What a world.

Can't argue that. If you're one who stores their phone in their pocket and may sit down with it in there the iPhone 6+ may not be your best choice.
