I would say if feasible for the back and sides. I don't know that it would change the issues being discussed here with the iPhone 6+ but it would interest me for other manufacturers like HTC especially if they elected to have removable batteries in their phones. Being able to switch between the different types of back panels is a nice option to have.Which bit?
The inside. The frame, the shell, the chassis?
Apple use glass, metal, n the outside of a device because of its tactillity in the hand. Not for engineering. Glass is awful for anything, aluminium is light but ductile and requires anodising to be of any use on the shell.
Rubberised plastic is the best material for the outside of a phone. Its robust, doesn't scratch, or chip, or stop radio waves. Its grippy and it absorbs shock. Until apple rocked up with its warped hipster approach, all phones were built with it. Apple have turned a tool into a piece of jewellery.
Again this is just my opinion on it.
