If I purchase the Epic on launch day would I be able to put the phone number that is on my Evo onto the epic same day? and have the number on my evo put onto the epic? Or is there a delay period for this??

I'm pretty sure you can do it right away. They didn't let me port from my iPhone 3g s, but since you are dealing Sprint-Sprint, it shouldn't be a problem, especially in one day. In the past, we've been able to port numbers to another Sprint phone super quickly.

Thanks for the answer..much appreciated.. I know Sprint told me just now it would void the rebate, but if I get it from BB then I guess it shouldn't matter...

I talked to a sprint rep on the phone and he said I could probably do the number switch but said it would void the rebate on the newly purchased phone.

Wtf? I'm on T-Mobile now and I don't expect to have to forfeit a $100 rebate just to port my number. That's r-tarded, I hope there was a miscommunication there...

No this is different than porting your number from another carrier to Sprint. I was referring to swapping numbers with another phone already on my Sprint account. You will certainly be able to KEEP your rebate, sorry if there was any confusion...

You must wait 24 hours before you can swap numbers. Buy the phone from best buy to avoid getting screwed on the rebate.

This Is exactly right. I wanted to do the same when the Pre came out but since I bought from sprint, I had to wait the 30 days before switching. The rebate is voided if you deactivate the phone/number within 30 days after activating the phone.

So, as a couple others have said, go to another source that skips the whole MIR process and you can then port right away.

If it were me, I'd buy the phone then go home and call sprint to make the number swap.
