Numerical Text Notifications

We have a new Maxx and when it receives a text it vibrates and makes the chosen sound but it doesn't show a number in the icon. Has anyone seen this or know of a way to fix it? We don't want to have to hit the text button after each time it's been put away to know if there are any new messages.

Best way to check is to swipe down the notification bar. If you have an unread text, it should be listed as a notification until you swipe it away.
