The Epic is showing the image coming from the EVO. So the picture on on the Epic, that looks nicer, originates from the EVO. So the EVO is taking video at a higher quality than the Epic.

Could also be attributed to the screen quality of the Epic...maybe thats the colors look so washed out on the EvO.

Also note how the evo is stretching the epic video. I think that's completely unfair for a comparison. They need to either change the qik settings, or make calls epic to epic and evo to evo to compare.

The epic video is also stretched on the epic preview window.

If Im using wifi why the heck would I ever need 4g? You will never find the perfect phone with everything perfect, but the epic is the closest thing to perfect that will be on the market IMHO. Granted Im jealous of the iphones screen resolution, semi jealous of sense UI, the droid 2's storage capabilities. But then again I think the epic is an all around good package. Cant wait! My mom, brother and I are bringing the sprint people doughnuts for the launch day.

Maybe its the super big@SS amoled screen that makes it look better.

The only way to know for sure is to have an Epic v/c with another Epic and compare that to Epic v/c with Evo. The picture quality could be due to the screen technology.

You people are nutz.. the difference between LCD and AMOLED is not the reason for the difference in color temperature, and aspect ratio shown in the picture.

Most likely the config settings on the Epic is wrong causing it to send out an image of diff aspect ratio. Hopefully there is also camera image settings in Qik to account for the difference in color temperature.

The "End Chat" button should have nothing to do with either camera. The Epic has a more vibrant red than the EVO so the screens are playing a role as far as color goes.

Who said anything about the End button? Why focus on the subtle differences in red. Have you looked at that full screen image and how different it looks? Are you ppl color blind?

Also keep in mind that this is only showing the front camera's performance. It is entirely possible that the front camera on the Epic is of lesser quality than EVO. I saw some pretty crappy sample images from the front camera on Engadget's review.. It could totally account for the lack of color and dynamic range shown in the Epic's stretched image.

Would be a shame if that's the case, but EPIC stills owns the EVO when accounting for the quality of the back camera inboth still + video modes.

I was focusing on the end button because I was using that as my example. I look at both screens and the EVO looks washed out which isn't the Epic camera's fault.

They did say a fix was coming to the Qik app for the Epic 4G around launch I think

Also, if you look at the phone dog unboxing video, you'll see that the Evo front cam uses the whole screen real estate on its cam while the epic uses a smaller portion and has big black borders. This could be why its so stretched in Video chat
