This recent preoccupation with making the slimmest phone is madness. Do the OEMs actually think the average user really cares about a difference of thickness of even 1mm??? I say 1mm because the differences between newer and older models of a phone are nowadays often less than that.

The slimmer the phone the harder to grip in my opinion. I never put my phone in my pocket so I don't care if it is 1mm thicker.

I suspect the major manufacturers do actual research to find out what users care about, rather than guessing. But if I had to guess, I'd say that yes, the average person does care about making a phone 13% thinner (that's the difference 1mm makes).

I'd like my phone to have the thickness of a credit card.

I have to admit after watching the new series Westworld I kinda liked the very thin devices on the show.

Personally for me, if a device is 9.5mm or 6.5mm it doesn't matter. I won't purchase a device just because it thinner. Than another. I rather have a thicker device with a bigger battery.

That being said, my sister is always looking for a thinner device because anything over 9.0mm is considered 'chunky' haha.

A droid a day, keep the apple away.

I don't care about an ultra thin phone. Manufacturers make them crazy thin, then a lot of people put them in a bulky case to protect them.

Make a thicker, plastic backed, non water resistant, non dust resistant phone with a swappable battery and I'll be happy. Heck, I'll buy one for each member of my family.

Other than being gimmicks, I don't see the actual value of being dust/water resistant or being thin.

You ruin your phone because you dropped it in water. Your fault. Be more careful.

You ruin your phone because you got it too dirty. Your fault. Be more careful.

These things aren't needed, just used as excuses to make a $800 phone a disposal device because they sealed the battery inside.

Even though I hate my LG G4 with a passion. And have had three catch fire out of nowhere. At least I can swap the battery when needed. For the same reason is why my old Note 2 is still in service today.

Yes I think the phones are thin enough; hopefully more emphasis will be placed on improved battery life.
