obsessive backing up & WiFi help

Hi guys, new member here.

I purchased my S4 back in December after my MAXX HD bit the dust. I've never had any problems with it until recently, when I noticed every 10-15 minutes an icon pops up on my screen saying my phone has been successfully backed up. Okay, cool. 10 minutes later it happens again. Over and over and over. I'm cool with it being so freaking thorough, but is there a way to switch it to.. oh, I don't know, maybe once a week? I haven't messed with it at all and don't understand why it's suddenly overachieving. I appreciate the thought, though.

On another note, it also refuses to connect to certain wifis.. in particular, my boyfriend's. I've done pretty much everything I could find online and nothing.

What is it backing up? Is it e-mails, images or everything? to where does it back-up? all these are questions which could determine where your files are being backed-up. Have you installed any app lately? Which cloud storage apps are on your device? These could be Dropbox, Google+, CM-Security also has a cloud storage feature in it.
