009 out now :)
Is there a reason the kernel objects in the AnyKernel version are provided in both /system/lib and /system/lib/modules? I checked the checksum of wireless.ko and while the filename is the same, the one in /system/lib and /system/lib/modules have different checksums.

The bootimage version only has /system/lib/modules.

Re-download it

Most likely its bad download

Use a program - like 7-Zip - freeware - to test the zip download

boot.img version ate 50mb of my internal space. If anykernel version disables wireless it looks like I am still without OC on VC and VD updates.

Yeah, not working for me either - using nRom 1.5.2-VC version

Wireless just shows as "Error"

Okay actually I think i found the issue. There is a weirdness where it put the ko in /system/lib instead of /system/lib/modules'

I'm going to release 009_experimental_2 soon but in the mean time or in lieu of such you can just do this:

adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cd /system/lib/
mv *.ko modules/
exit

then try wifi again

make sure you put ko and not so

Those with wifi issues with experimental 009 please do the following:

1) restore your nandroid backup before you flashed 009
2) Download and flash the Experimental Redux

Please do not skip the nandroid step. The old zip installed the modules in two locations. Wifi did not work because the module installed in the proper location was old. The correct modules were not installed in the proper location.

Failing to restore a nandroid dump will result in excess files in your /system/lib folder that do not belong. While probably harmless, these will be eating space on your /system partition and may cause problems later.

Therefore simply restore your nandroid to wipe these files, then flash the Experimental Redux and it will only install the proper set of modules.

Just to clarify, does 009 fix the internal space (or lack there of) issue? I see that your post Zefie says that if 009 eats it up, to try the experimental version - but I'd rather just wait until someone confirms that the issue is resolved on one of them before flashing if that's cool?

Thanks in advance! :)

009_experimental_2 is what you want.

It fixes the space issue (because it has no boot.img), and it fixes the bug with modules being installed to the wrong place (causing wireless not to work unless you mount /system rw and move them).

The original 009_experimental fixed the space issue but had the other bug.

There is no 'fix'. Each rom uses their own way to move dalvik-cache to /cache, which is what saves your space. The "eating space" issue is when it is not moved, (kinda like if you flashed stock without wiping), so all your space is eaten up by the dalvik-cache.

The experimental attempts to prevent this by flashing the kernel and not the RAMDisk. Now, we recall I started packing the ramdisk with the kernel because of the VC drivers needing the new init.rc options.

Therefore, I release the kernel-only as an experimental because it *should* work with ThundeROM and nROM but might not if you have V9 or some other weird untested aspect.

So all I can say is make a nandroid backup and flash it and report back.

Running experimental_2 on TR 1.8. Wireless works fine, and can finally overclock again without losing 60MB of space :)
