Yeah factory reset won't reset the OS, just your data. Good luck, i feel confident that it can be recovered.

Did you post a thread ovet at xda? At least let few more eyes see your issue.
Btw, if your still showing s-off in bootloader then sprint will know it's rooted.

Ok, so I got it back to normal. I will need to backup with Lookout and will now pursue the Nandroid backup before attempting again.
What did you do to restore it? Also next time you flash you may want to do it via rom manager or manually. I know the x99kernel works fine, I would go different routes than kernel manager though

There was a thread on XDA about "one file fix", it was basically the stock ROM. I loaded it onto the SD and bootloader saw it and I executed it.
Basically lost all my call history and text history. I manually reinstalled everything.
So explain this Nandroid.... Is this basically a image of my current rom and such? Something recoverable from the Bootloader?

Glad you were able to get it sorted out. Yeah a nandroid backup basically backs up everything with your current ROM, this is good to have in case anything should ever happen....again. First you need to make sure you flash recovery. to do this download ROM Manager from the market. Open the app and chose "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" Once you've done that you can make a backup, this can be done through the same app or by manually booting into recovery and selecting backup/restore. This takes up a decent amount of memory so I don't backup every time I flash something but it's good to have a good solid backup. You may also want to look into downloading something like mybackup root from the market so that if you ever have to do a wipe you can restore all of your apps, data ect..

It's been a while since I've used a Sense ROM but my battery life with Cm7 and Miui has pretty solid using x99kernel. Using it undervolted with smartass governor seems to be pretty good on battery life.

What is the name of the Stock Rom? If I select a kernal to install and choose to keep the stock rom *I dont want to change look* what kernal compatibility is required?
So where does the NANdroid function work into the equation. I follow your backup instructions... do you have a link to the latest NANdroid program?
After you flash recovery using ROM manager, go into manager and select backup/restore and create one from there. This can also be done manually through recovery. If you've already done this then congrats, you have a nandroid backup! Your backup (nandroid) will be on your sd card in the Clockworkmod folder and can be accessed via recovery or rom manager.
As far as a kernel for the stock ROM, any kernel that is designed for the Shift and HTC Sense will work. Look around over at xda in the Shift development forum and just find one you like that is made for sense Rom's.

Will the Kernal work on stock HTC rom. I plan on adding NO customer Rom in... I only want Kernal for now. My interest is SPEED.

Yeah that kernel will work fine. Download the Sense version straight to your phone or on a pc and move to your sd card. Then flash using ROM manager or manually go into recovery select install from sd, then find the kernel and flash. I have flashed that kernel multiple times on different roms.
