Odd error - want to ask before OTA execution

So I grabbed the OTA ZIP file that was posted here - THANK YOU by the way.

I boot into recovery and I am presented with the following :

Android System Recovery (2e)

the usual 4 menu options for Reboot, Apply sdcard:Update.zip, Wipe data and wipe cache.


I get an error on the recovery screen that says :
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command

Can i still run the update? This is a relatively stock Incredible (Rooted, S-Off then unrooted.

How to get Clockwork recovery, busybox, & root on 8/26 leaked RUU 3.21.605.1 - xda-developers

Do this instead, and follow the directions exactly.

reimaged the device with the renamed rom (ROM.ZIP) from the d/l site described.

Renamed it PB31IMG.ZIP
The phone installed it without issue

hboot went down from .79 to .77

during the initial hboot check -
I now get NO IMAGE errors for any if the PB31IMG files -

DIAGs or otherwise

SD Checking....
Loading [pb31diag.zip]
no image!
Loading [pb31diag.nbl]
no image or wrong image!

Loading [pb31img.zip]
no image!

Loading [pb31img.nbl]
no image or wrong image!

then kicks me back to the hboot screen.


Still no joy - I still get the error in my 1st post......

I had the same message on mine when I updated with out a problem and no previous roots. So I don't know if you can get it back to a spot and just do it.

With the file on your computer or on your SD card have you checked to make sure the extensions where not hidden? I got an error similar to that and saw the file after I renamed that file it was update.zip.zip instead of update.zip

Once I removed the second.zip the file installed fine , just incase you havent checked that part ?

Mine said this too, and it updated successfully. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that my Moto Droid gave the same error when I manually updated it to 2.1 several months ago.

Stock unrooted here, if it helps.

fingers and toes crossed - at the reboot to complete install......writing zip file

new splash screens, DROID MP3 played on boot - stuck after the driod eye animation......hung for a minute

all good!
