Off Contract - Moving from IOS to Android

Hi everyone.
Just signed up for an Android Central account because I just have no idea which way to go and need some advice.
I have been using iPhone's since the iPhone3G. The iPhone 7 dropping the headphone jack has just lost me forever though.
(I use my Bose QC25's daily and have no intention of changing them for a bluetooth set in the future).
Since last Xmas though, I was given a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 from my carrier, and have really enjoyed using it. So much so, that I now want an Android device to be my next phone.
Everything was looking great. I was almost off a two year contract with an iPhone 6 Plus and the Galaxy Note 7 was ticking all the boxes for me.
(I am a massive fan of using a stylus, by the way, and do so daily).
I was really looking forward to getting one. Then they started blowing up and got recalled :(
Now, I am off contract on a month by month sim only plan and I just can't figure out what Android device to get or if I should just wait, keep using this steadily slowing down iPhone, and see what's coming in the first quarter of 2017?
Any advice\ideas on what to look at getting would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Jimmy.

I haven't had any experience with it (yet) but if you like big phones then take a look at V20. From what I've read and seen (and will soon experience), its a really nice phone. It doesn't come with a stylus included but there are some cheap enough ones available. The V20 is also the first phone to come with Nougat out of the box. The Galaxy S7 and 7 Edge are also really nice phones. If you want a new phone right now you can take a look those two flagships. There are a lot more phones that have been put out this year as well.

Thanks for the info Mikey. I do like big phones, but as long as it isn't under 5" i'd be happy. The V20 is a really nice phone for sure. I just had a look at it. I think there there is only one reason for not getting it and thats the lack of waterproofing. My brother in law gave me his Galaxy S7 to take some action shots whilst we were on holiday. Just having the ability to take photos and videos of the family having fun in the water was pretty impressive and something i'd like to do when I get a new phone.
Also, the S7 has been out awhile now hasn't it? Would it be worth waiting for the S8? Surely it would have to be released soon?
On the stylus front, I don't really need to get a phone that comes with one as I have a very nice Adonit stylus I use.

We are in between "phone release seasons" right now. S8 and other Android flagships aren't released until March/April. The Note line (and iPhones) are released in the fall. If you absolutely need a phone right now, you should look at S7 Edge (camera and screen are amazing), Pixel XL (camera is amazing, and pure Android is nice from someone coming from such a restrictive OS like iOS, the One Plus 3 or 3T is awesome (sub $450 phone), or if you want a phablet with stylus I'd look at the Note 5. I own the V20 as well, but I am extremely unhappy with the camera in auto mode. In manual/pro mode it's great, however if the camera is important to you and your just want to pull out your phone and take a pic, it is not nearly on the same level as the S7 Edge, Pixel or iPhone 7 Plus.

@II_cacciatore: Here's my take on this issue: LG v20 it has
become popular after the defunct gNote7 get discontinued
is oxon phone, but size and its blurry Screen reduces
its sales. Now the Gs7 got it all..I own-1 of those
and meet my Needs, also the Gs7-Edge is
likeable, but again size matter..So better
wait for the New Gs8 to decide on it..

Thanks Todd. That's good advice. I don't absolutely need a phone right now, but I am so over this IOS POS it's not funny anymore.
I'd already over the last year moved all my "must have" day to day apps to platform agnostic options so I am not tied to Apple anymore.
I will check out the One Plus phones as you say they are awesome. Could be an interim option. Cheers mate.

Thanks Sam. I'm going to check out the One plus range first. I think it will be better to not go on a 2 year contract on the G7 phones when the next gen are only 4 -5 months away.

I'm curious to hear if you made a decision? The 3T is a good phone at the right price; however, if you are looking to spend a little less and have an interim device while you await a newer flagship then there are options. Nexbit Robin is available on Amazon for $149 (unlocked): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D9LVCAI?th=1&tag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU5632763

You can also look into the Moto G4/Plus model. You are you looking at $179-$269 for those devices respectively. If you really look perhaps better deals are available.

I just switched to Verizon because they had a special and I picked up an LG Stylo 2 for free because I signed a 2 year contract. I had always wanted the LG G Stylo 2 because my aunt got one like a year or two ago and it is still working well.

The only thing is you may need to have a backup battery for the phone because I don't know why but the screen uses a lot of battery even at only 50 percent but the thing that brought me back to android was the removable battery and the fact you can just switch them out. I got a backup battery for just $15 on Amazon but if you are looking for something that is an affordable replacement and very close to what the iphone 6 plus was then go with the stylo and an SD card. Side note the stylus is awesome

The only thing that irks me about this device is 2 things actually no app folder so all the apps are on home screen which will not bother someone coming from the iphone because they do the same thing, the other thing battery life is good but that can be remedied with a backup and depending on which carrier you have they may offer it on promotion for free with a 2 year contract
