Off Contract Price Speculation

Maybe I exaggerated a bit, but I value the complete unboxing experience. Didn't mean to offend.. :o

Brother I understand it. I don't want anyone touching my precious either. But I had a treo pro replaced last month which probably had a resale value of $30 and they would not let me out the door without activating it themselves.

For every legit thing you or I want to do, and legit point of view you or I have, there are thousands of people who know how to game any potential exploit in the system. Now I don't consider people who do "bad guys", they are only doing small potatoes of what people do on wall stre4et, but the fact is, if due to subsidy, and at-cost sales, if there is any hole in the Sprint system some ebay/arbitrage genius will figure it out and game sprint. hence the stingent rules (and hence the mail in rebates).

I had a couple of acquaintances that used to mass buy and break apart tracphone packages, as they were worth more apart than purchase cost.

If there is $5 or $10 to be made on anything, especially with super liquid markets due to ebay, someone will do it. At least by activating it they are confirming you have a live account.

Best buy had a checkbox on the presale form for them setting it up for you, and I left it blank.

They also won't charge a restocking fee for this instinct, and that combines with no MIR makes them a much more pleasant experience than dealing with sprint.

The setting up is their Geeks squad bloatware special, not the activation we are discussing.
And BB does charge restocking.

I am planning to switch out my touchpro2 with an epic4g but will have to wait until Oct 1st to be able to do it on my sero plan. Can I buy the phone for full retail on august 31st and not activate it until oct 1st? I would guess yes?

I just pre-ordered from amazon for $489- I was worried that if I wait until oct 1st the epic will be sold out- I'm not so sure this is the best way to go but I can can cancel in the next few days- at least I will avoid taxes

i don't see why you couldn't switch phones the day you get it since you bought this straight-up

For what it's worth, the Vibrant and Captivate seem to be on sale for $0.01. Something tells me Sammy can crank these Galaxy S phones out all day long. :)

Somehow, I doubt the Epic will ever have that 1 cent deal...

Is it confirmed that the Epic will be able to be activated on a Sero plan on 10/1/10? I was under the impression that the Epic would always require one of Sprint's Everything plans just like the Evo.
