Official 6/28 Update Thread - Discuss Here

Sorry.... I had not researched this much... I read it when the phone first came out and HTC's first "OFFICIAL" response was that it was hardware related to the HDMI drivers on the phone and they had said the 30 fps was plenty enough since most major motion pictures are filmed at 24 fps......

I've called HTC a few times in the past week and each time they read back to me the "official" statement dated 6/21 which is that HTC intentionally put the cap in place for "overall performance increases", such as battery life. I've never heard about the HDMI drivers excuse from anyone other than other forum posters.

Also, the last time I called (last Friday I believe) they had a new memo dated 6/23 which stated that HTC is "looking into the 30fps cap". I asked the rep what that meant, and he had no additional information. My assumption is that it means they've gotten enough flak from customers to at least take a look at removing it. Whether they will actually do that or not is another matter.

Wifi seems to definitely be stronger. I am getting a much stronger signal here @ work. From 1-2 bars to constant 3.

Not to bash you, but that's meaningless. What if that's just a display discrepancy?

I for one, even with 1 bar had a rock solid connection to wifi. Without some empirical measurement of signal strength, that statement doesn't mean much. I'd like to see Phil's data collection and comparison between the other Android devices.

Or, if you guys send me a Droid and a N1 to play with, I can do some data gathering myself... ;-)

However, I'm rather reliant on the wifi hotspot, and that's the primary reason why I used unrevoked. I'm hesitant to take this update.

Not sure if this is NEW or not

but adding a widget, theres an option (Get More HTC Widgets) which brings up 7 new widgets you can download and add. Just got thhe dice, coin flip, Tip Calc and Today in History widgets.

Yeah these were there prior to the update. I was stuck at the mall while the wifey was shoe shopping so I plopped down in a chair and just played around with the phone looking at everything I could possibly find and came across those.

Can't check WIFI but screen feels more responsive. A little too responsive? Maybe in my head...

WiFi has gotten a crap ton better for me. I used to only get 2 bars while in my living room (which is like 20 feet if that from my router) and now I get full signal all throughout my house. In regards to the responsiveness, I dunno if it was the update or just the fact the phone had been powered off and back on, but things run really smooth for me now. I used to notice slight pauses or lag when going from screen to screen or bringing up the All Apps page, but not anymore. Like I said it could have been the update or the phone reboot. Not sure yet.

All in all (from download to install) it took maybe 5 minutes for me to update, but YMMV.

Did the update, and bricked my phone lol

Now my phone will not power up or recognize being plugged into a power source

0_o!!

:confused:I give up downloading this update its taking too long besides I have unrevoked on my phone and I dont want to get rid of it due to me taking this update so I will hold off until froyo.

Took 11 for me including download and install. It restarted twice. My grounding issue is fixed! I can now lay it on bed and pinch to zoom. Awesome. That was really annoying. I haven't checked for any other changes yet. And for the other posting saying holding down a doesn't
get ! Works for me.
EDIT... my qik icon changed from orange to blue

I wonder if it's a fix to the signal strength display, or if it's actually getting a better signal now.
It did fix my grounding issue.
Now if I can just remember what that widget was...

I haven't seen an improvement in actual signal quality. It does seem to display signal strength changes more quickly when I'm walking around a building.

Cool. I didnt have the screen issue but it is more responsive. Im using the simply draw app it seems more sensitive but maybe it can be that im excited about an update.

I'm most looking forward to any battery improvements. Hopefully it's a noticeable improvement.

Is this the 2nd or 3rd update from HTC? I remember the initial one for the SD card but I can't remember if there was one in between.

I have deleted downloaded update for now. Waiting to get the update on battery info. The noticeable improvements are screen responsiveness, works now when on bed, comforter, etc., wifi signal - I have all three working fine on my phone right now so I will skip this update for now

Thanks Guys :)

Yeah sounds like to me you had a rooted phone that was heavily modified for it to brick like that. So far other then people complaining it has taking longer then they had hoped for or having to replace a few broken widgets this update has been a smooth sailings.
