Official 6/28 Update Thread - Discuss Here

I like all the blame being placed on me, it's making you guys look like a bunch of phanboys lol Stuff happens and I'll replace it later today.

Update done. I see no difference in my wifi signal, but then again I never had a problem before the update either.

Yeah sounds like to me you had a rooted phone that was heavily modified for it to brick like that. So far other then people complaining it has taking longer then they had hoped for or having to replace a few broken widgets this update has been a smooth sailings.

Sounds to me like you have your feelings hurt, all I had was the basic unrevoked and overclocker which I uninstalled to be safe. And where am I complaining? I just posted what happened so stop being a sissy.

I guess I will wait to update because the wireless tethering is a must for me. Ill update once unrEVOked is back running correctly.

Just did the update, I thought I initially bricked it because the phone appeared to go through the update screen and restart about 4-5 times but eventually it completed it's cycles and finished booting properly. Had to remove and reapply a few widgets as other folk have commented.

I get stuck on the Sprint 4G splash screen after boot. The update appeared to fully apply OK. Any ideas?

I am just glass they fixed the Exchange issues I was having with my companies security policy. It just saved me $20 since I don't have to buy Touchdown now just to get my work email.

6/28 OTA update Bricked UN-rooted EVO

Sorry no fooling, The OTA update bricked my EVO. It is/was not rooted, did not fool with it while it was updating and now no power, no nothing, just a great big black paperweight currently...

Keyboard Issues

Did it do this for anyone else?
I can no longer long press a key in texting, like it does not bring up the exclamation mark when I hold down "a"... This is very upsetting... I have tried three reboots and one battery pull.

I'm having the same issue. I believe it's cause by the screen sensitivity. Sometimes when I long hold the "K" key it will type multiple K's. Sometime it will just type one K, but you can tell it's like it doesn't detect your trying to do a long hold.

Mine sits on the 4g splash screen now longer too (and seemed to sit there forever during the update process itself). It was a little nerve wracking.

If you're just completing the update, be patient... it sounds like you're in good shape.

It does break the unrevoked root method....I'm going to try to download it again and see if that works.

It's a no go...I redownloaded it still doesn't work.

This alone is making me wait on this update until UnRevoked gets a new version out that works with it. I cannot do without my tether.

I have not really had any issues anyway so this update won't really fix anything for me anyway.

If I were you guys I would remove UnRevoked before you apply this update.

My question is will this update become required? Will I be forced to have it applied after x amount of time like the Pre used to do?

Update: I did an additional reboot after update and all is good again.

Did the htc update, took awhile, wifi signal meter doesn't seen to be any different, less than 4ft away and it shows 1 bar, using wireless n, nothing else seems changed

Well, does that mean you're using custom drivers or something patched in order to enable wireless N? In that case, I don't see why you would expect improved performance (or even improved graphical display of bars), as the stock Evo doesn't support N.

Really? you tried updating the HTC Software, not the firmware - correct?

That is correct....
