Official 6/28 Update Thread - Discuss Here

I updated my wifes and my phone as soon as the update hit and our battery life has improved dramatically. I can't test the wifi cause I haven't used it yet since I don't have a router at home but I'm happy with the battery outcome since it was my major issue. I was able to get about 9 hours out of 1 charge and I used my slacker radio, maps with the gps turned on for a good 2 hours, several calls and text messages and a pretty decent amount of web surfing. My wifes phone wasnt used much except for web surfing and her battery didnt go down a smidge. I started getting worried cause my battery gauge wasnt going down for so long. Im quite happy with the update.

That was my experience, too, except that the folks in the Sprint store told me there was nothing they could do. I went to three different stores and got the same response in each one. They people were nice enough. They just weren't very helpful.

You're assumptions are off, I was professional to all encountered but 800 Sprint says to go to a store "see if they can fix it and if they can't we will overnight you a phone" Ok so I go and they can't fix it and the manager gives me a sob story with no replacement. So I call 800 Sprint back again and they refuse to honor their deal and tell me "You need to go to Radio Shack" so i go and Radio Shack tells me "There's nothing we can do for you".

So that wouldn't frustrate anyone?

I see a lot of mentioning of wi-fi N being enabled after the update but i doubt that its true. my wi-fi speed improved about 25% after the update but its not even remotely close to what my laptop is tested with its N chip - its running at least 200% faster down than my phone from the same server. I thought that N will be enabled after Froyo is out, am i wrong?

Hey all aloha, first time posting and figured no better time than with the update that I and many others applied yesterday. I'm not sure about any of the issues that reportedly were being fixed: I do see stronger WiFi but never really had a problem before, screen sensitivity and non-responsiveness when not holding the phone wasn't really an issue but what I was curious about and never saw posted were changes with the Bluetooth stack.

I had streamed, with no controls from my Alpine stereo music on my Tour as well as from Slacker. Also, the phone could make and take calls but the onboard phone controls never worked because the phonebook never transferred correctly nor did the call logs.

Enter the EVO, everything transfers correctly, all on dash controls work for phone and media but the problem I was having was the bluetooth cutting in and out on the music playback. At first I thought it was a connection problem, maybe being in an area without strong enough signal but that wasn't the case as the progress bar in Slacker for the download was well beyond the time where the music was actually playing. To test for sure I chose music stored on the micro SD and even that cut in and out on playback. It wasn't an all the time thing but it was enough to make me think either my BT receiver on my stereo was going bad or my new phone's BT radio was defective.
After yesterday's update everything is working fine with two test drives (back home and then out to the office today). Was there a fix for BT as well or is it just coincidence? I hope it keeps going without a hitch.

I installed yesterday at about 10am.

WiFi indicator is showing more bars. I don't know about better battery life, but I didn't have any issue with the update.

phone little quirky since the update. this am my weather was not updating. now it is. great update though, enjoying the battery life increase. whatever problem my weather widet had has gone away. wifi is noticably faster too

"My experience with the update". I updated both mine and my wifes evo and they are working great, 1/3 better battery, faster 4g speed, getting consitant 5mbps download speed and very crisp touch screen. I have no downside to the update and really dodnt care about the android wallpapers.

I had no problem with the update. It did take a long time, with lots of restarts. Then, it tried to redownload the same update, which I canceled.

I noticed an increase in battery life when my phone is in standby.

I know this phone has "bugs" and stuff to work out. It's the first generation. We are like pioneers! :D

Installed yesterday afternoon. Definitely improved battery life. Using live wallpaper today with moderate use since 5:00 am and only at 70%. Before with static wallpaper I would be at 60% by now. Other than that everything else seems to be the same.

Works wonderfully

Mine updated fine and now my battery life has improved significantly. Using the GPS still reboots my phone though which would drive me nuts if I used that on a regular basis.

The notification pull down is way smoother and more responsive as are scrolling lists in settings.

Loaded last night (before I found out it closed the root hole, doh!), I actually thought out had killed the phone at one point as on its second reboot it just sat there with the update arrow but no progress bar, but after a few minutes it rebooted again and fired right up.

Like some others I seem to have lost some wall paper selections, just live, htc and gallery atte available now, but other than that everything seems to be working fine. I hope unrevoked gets an update soon, I'm missing my tether app here at the airport.

Hi Folks,

just thought I put in some information

without a doubt.. the FOTA is NOT the culprit behind the EVO 4G being bricked. I was able to install that update yesterday (6/28/2010) at 1:00pm and the phone worked fine.

As has been mentioned elsewhere. The other update is an HTC update that is 1.4.....Supersonic[##########]. This one went on today at 10:30am and ended up taking my phone out. The phone is not rooted. The phone was connected to the wall charger that was connected to 120v live outlet.

So AVOID the HTC update. The FOTA (Firmware update) is ok.

OTA Update is back

Just checked and it is available if you go into settings>update phone>HTC updates... Since I tryed to do this all morning before i went to sleep I know it was not out earlier. For all those who missed the update it is getting repushed now.
