Has anyone experienced the battery draining overnight? I connect to wifi at night, and wifi is always connected by default even when it sleeps. My first GNex had a physical default, so I exchanged it for a new one, now the new one drains overnight. Any thoughts?

yea, seems to average between 10%-20% drain overnight. Not great, but even custom roms are seeing it.

i wasnt a believer, but as many others before me have stated, wait til after a few charge cycles before complaining.

i went from 7 hours on my first charge to about 45 hours on my third charge, with the same or possibly more use on it.

If I am doing very heavy use like tethering, playing music w/ google music, fiddling w/ launchers then I'm getting about 4 hours of use. If I'm going through my normal day w/ average phone calls, tethering, FB, Twitter, and about 20 min of car charging time from A - B through the day total, I'm getting over 18 hours easy. (plenty 4G in Buffalo NY) And if I'm chilling at home w/ wifi on all day long I am sure I would be well into 22+ hours or more.

Now when I 1st got these batteries I wasn't getting even close to these numbers, so full drains and charges (I have desktop battery chargers) have made a huge difference.

I have 2 battery chargers and 3 standard batteries. 1 for office, 1 for car. And I'm finding I'm exchanging batteries less and less often.

Where do you turn 4G off at? I don't live in a 4G area, so I don't really need it..

Just know that turning off "4G" is turning off the primary radio. doing this forces everything to cdma and also prevents you from browsing the internet while also on a call. The only way to talk + browse is to leave 4G on, since it will use one radio for talk and the other for data.

just did a charge this morning. dont know if its new charging technology or what, but it only took about an hour and 15 minutes to go from 15%-ish to Full.

well anyway, now i'm discharging at the same rate I was the first day. down to 75% after only an hour and a half. less than 10 minutes of screen time.

gonna continue to monitor this battery situation for the remainder of the week. if its not resolved and i continue to get these random charges, i'm out. coupled with the poor verizon service despite being in a 4G area, i'm a bit disappointed with things.

Very proud of my Nexus last weekend. Kept it on 4G all day on NYE without a charge and it went about 14 hours by the time I plugged it in, still with 24% on the battery. Words with Friends is a HUGE battery killer and not playing it will do wonders for battery life.

Out of curiosity, have you ever actually dropped a call?

I'm not trying to discredit your problems with the phone so please dont take it that way, but even with 1 to no bars of service I send and receive calls just fine from my GNEX. The only places I have ever seen any problems with my cell phone service are the exact same places my old moto devour and LG ally had issues sending calls/text messages. Now I cant speak for 4g as I do not live in a 4g capable region, but the only actual issue ive noticed with 3g coverage is with the readout on the phone.

Plus, android 4.0.3 will be here soon (remember we are relying on google now, not Verizon) and most people running that build already are saying that it really helps with 3g and 4g service.

yeah, me too. As a matter of fact, every call I have made (which actually isnt many, I'm not a huge phone talker) has been crystal clear, regardless of what my bar readout might be. I used to have problems understanding some people from my Ally, i dont have that problem on my Nexus.

Had it since launch and here is my report.
I had 50+ apps installed before and my battery was terrible. The phone would only last 5-6 hours. It would also get really warm, so some apps were running in the background and spike up my CPU usage.

I factory reset the phone, and only installed a couple Google apps. Battery was much better so I installed a few more apps like Facebook and soundhound.

Unplugged it after work last night at 5pm. Used it normally and went to bed at 12am.
Woke up at 730am. It's now 1030 am and I just got the 10% warning.

Even though the phone was idle for half the time, I think this is decent battery life. Screen on time was 2.5 hours, which is my highest so far.

Settings:2100mah battery, 4G/wifi, auto brightness, syncing google reader, +, voice. Facebook set to never update.

The worst thing is the amount of battery the screen sucks.U could do nothing on your phone at all but if you were to have your screen on consistently the battery would be drained in about 5 hours, that might even be giving it the benefit of the doubt.

dropped a call? no.
not been able to make calls because of no service? yes.

when on at&t, i literally never had a single issue getting 3g or voice, unless deep inside a building. now i have to go outside at my job just to make a phone; well not every time, but its on and off whether i can dial out or not. 3g? wont even load.
and this is all on 1 greyed out bar.

now this is a fairly remote area, but i was shocked as I previously had 4 bars here with my iphone on at&t. switching to verizon i was expecting the service to be even better due to me being a customer with them years back. but no, no data at all despite the area being covered not only by 3G, but by 4G as well.

at home, 3G isnt important at all as everyone obviously uses wifi. still only get 2 bars of 3G despite the area being fully covered by both 3G and 4G. my issue at home, however, is that despite my not needing 3G, i still want the network to function. i want reliability.
well after some testing ive found pages load blazing fast on 2 bars of 3G. blazing fast for about 2 minutes til they suddenly stop loading that is. i'm still shown 2 bars of 3G yet nothing will load. not reliable enough at all.

lastly, and perhaps i should have mentioned this in the beginning, i live in an area that was just recently upgraded to 4G. i was one of the december 15th cities that got the upgrade.
so perhaps they're still doing work and figuring things out around here, and perhaps things wont be this bad.

my issue is that i only have about 10 days left to decide. i'm not staying on a network thats unreliable in my area. not paying $30 extra a month for data that doesnt function.

Its a 720p phone. It is gonna be a boar when the screen is on. ICS does a good job by using muted tones in navigating the os as well as the stock keyboard. Start making changes there and you will see a change.

I keep NFC on, 4G on, WiFi on all of the time.

Mod use for me I get between 9 and 11 hours, that is txting, web browser, email, Google music, and phone calls. While using Google Music keep the screen off unless I want to change songs, but it is streaming online music.

With heavy use I get between 4 and 5 hours. This includes all of the above plus streaming Netflix or other videos and playing games. In other words having the screen on most of the time.

I don't think this is bad at all, and the real numbers may be a little better or worse. I don't let the battery get into the 30% to 20% range and I'm charging it up.

Im finding that tapatalk is killing my battery.

After I installed it, my phone got pretty warm and android os was keeping my phone awake.
My battery dropped 20% in one hour when it lasted 19 hours on the previous charge.

I uninstalled tapatalk, and my phone immediately cooled down. The android os awake stopped going up as well.

I have only had my Nexus two days. Today was the first opportunity to test how long the battery lasts me. It has been going for 13.5 hours now and the battery is at 51% still! While I only had one short phone call, I did use it off and on all day long for surfing, a couple of app downloads, Gasbuddy, etc. So far (and I know it is early) I have no complaints about the battery life.
