Switched from a Bold 9000 yesterday. It's going to take getting used to no physical keyboard, but aside from that the only thing I miss is BBM.

I myself too was a hardcore BlackBerry user for 3 years. To this day, Ill still use a BB. I just needed a change and switched to Android when the HTC Aria was out, then the Captivate. Havent looked back since. Im more addicted to my phone now, then I was with the BlackBerry.

The Atrix is the first Android Phone I have owned that has an LED!! Thats what I MISSED with BlackBerry. I loved the Notifier via LED. Now, this phone has it. Its small, but its there.

And just 5 minutes ago I found an app in the market called BLINK. It allows you to change the color of the LED to your taste for SMS, MMS, Calls etc. Give it a shot!

EDIT: Also, Im still using Notifier_Contentment for my SMS/MMS Messages. I cant get ride of that sound. Its notorious! And Yes, you can add that to the phone to use for your SMS tone.

I tried to find that tone on the internet yesterday, as it's what I was using on my 9000.

Guess I'll just need to dig into the 9000 when I get home to strip it out.

A true BlackBerry user :) Good to know that this phone has an LED as well.

Does anyone know if the Atrix can tether via the data cable?

I know that this isn't comparing apples and apples, excuse that expression, but how is the Atrix doing for pop email and messaging ?

I depend on my 9700 for reliable fast email and messaging so while I would expect the Atrix to be slower it is the consistency I am interested in. Never actually tried Android yet but on the iPhones I have had it has been inconsistent enough to have me running back to Berry's.

Not really concerned about BBM as I moved over to Pingchat a couple of months ago to cover cross platform messaging.

Im sure there is a way to do it but it might require root.

Pop email I cant clarify as I have a Gmail account and use the Gmail App which is instant. Im sure someone else could answer this question for you and I dont think theres a long delay.

Messaging as in MMS SMS? Threaded like Iphone and BlackBerrys newer OS's. Theres also different messaging applications you can download to use in place of the default messaging program. Go SMS and Handcent are pretty good. You can customize just about everything about it.

i would like to know if we can search for exchange emails on the atrix. I also want to point out that BLINK is not really close to what berrybuzz is. BLINK can not be set up with different LED's for email, facebook, twitter, etc. its pretty basic compared to berrybuzz, and is just something you will have to live without, moving to android.

Coming from a 9000 Bold.

Going to miss my BBM. Planning to try to replace it with my GV number. Does anyone know if the Google Voice app on Android is Push?

Just went from a Curve 8900 over to the Atrix. So far I love it but got a lot to learn about Android etc. Not gonna ditch the BB yet, will keep it around just in case.

Coming from a Bold 9000 here as well. Picked up my Atrix yesterday. Installed Beejive, FB, Angry Birds so far. Loving the phones so far, but still missing BBM.

The Keyboard will take a while to get use to.

Oh, and theres no OEM password safe app. Can anyone recommend one?

I just turned off my Bold 9000 today when my Atrix arrived. Am I slower at typing? Yeah, for now. I suspect that with time, I'll grow to be pretty fast on the virtual keyboard - It just takes some getting used to.

I am in this same boat.

For all you BB converts...

did you use the different ringer/notification profiles? If so, you might want to check out audiomanager in the market. I got so used to having those profiles on my Bberrys that I have this as a must have app on my android now.

i just upgraded from my BB9700. damn is it a steep learning curve! i already miss a few things specifically:

BBM.. seriously
LED notification light customization (apps i've found for the android's are not nearly as robust as BerryBuzz, any recommendations?)
left-side convenience key / right-side camera button
and of course... the amazing BB keyboard.

other than that, this phone is amazing! i'm still trying to learn everything though.

I'm hoping to join your ranks as soon as my Atrix arrives. I must say the BB 9000 has been pretty good to me though, and I am a little sad leaving RIM (I'm Canadian in Canada), but I'm looking forward to this device. It will be interesting to see how it performs on a non-AT&T network.
