Been reading a lot of USB C car charger thread and Amazon reviews....

I don't feel like being too adventurous with my 6p. I just want to get an official car charger from either google or Huawei.

Anyone else feel the same and just gonna wait patiently until something comes out?

That is exactly what I am going to do as the battery is so good unless I am traveling cross country I do not need a car charger as of yet

There isn't any official car charger, however the tronsmart car charger on amazon rapid charges the 6p. So that's worth a buy.

I want to add that, to my surprise, the Choetech QuickCharge 2.0 car charger also charges rapidly.

I'm still waiting for an official, higher spec Type C charger though, to get true full speed.

Any news on when the official one comes out?

I've used Anker for a year and it has been great for me. I use the exact same one for my LG G3, IPhone 5C, and iPad Air 2 with no issues.

I'm sure Google or Huawei will release a car charger at some point.

That would be nice, but I wouldn't bet on it. Google hasn't made a car or desk charger for their Nexus phones since the Nexus One. The last car charger for the Nexus was the one by Samsung for the Galaxy Nexus, and that wasn't readily available.

I'm a big fan of car docks, but lately Google and other companies have been going away from them.

I don't think it's as much the charger as the cable that's tricking the phone into thinking it's "charging rapidly". Check out Benson Leung's reviews of USB A-C cables on Amazon, the cable manufacturer can put a resistor into the cable to trick the phone. There's a risk in doing that, the phone can pull more power than the charger can provide and the charger could fail spectacularly and cause damage to surrounding materials.

The tronsmart I believe was tested by Androidpolice, or DroidLife. It provided the voltage for rapid charging.

Was it tested against Qualcomm's QC spec or the USB-C spec? According to Benson Leung (A Google engineer) NO charger with a USB-A output should report as "charging rapidly" on a USB-C device provided you're using a cable that properly meets USB standards.

Oh boy this is why I wanna wait for an official one. So u don't buy a charger only to later find out it won't work lol

Would an car inverter work with the Google supplied charger?

The reason I'm inclined to believe that one or both will release a car charger is because the new Nexus devices are using USB-C and the power specs are different compared to previous micro-USB chargers. I loved my 2.0 amp car charger for my M8, but that's not gonna cut it for the new standard. Why not make a charger for such a popular phone - especially Huawei, if they continue using some of the same technology and standards in future devices.
