[Official] CyanogenMod 7 discussion

I now get full bars for WiMax on CM7 where on Sense I would get one if lucky. CM7 I now get 9mbps at home where on sense I would get 2-3mbps. I have yet to lose 4G connection on CM7. Sense I would always lose my connection. AOSP FTW!!!!

Update: WiFi on and 4g at the same time causes 4G not to work. The WiFi won't turn off auto when 4G turns on. Manual shut down WiFi then 4g on worked. Also I had to reboot after Wifi and 4g at the same time because 4g wouldn't reconnect.

So!! Manually turn one on and off and it works great. Am I making any sense?

Also, I think Sense rom turned off Wifi automatically when 4G got turned on. Anyways, I'm sure its being worked on. GPS management is spot on. Turns off and on nicely. What a kick ass rom. Very smooth fast and stable. Many thanks to CM and donation on its way;)

Why would you want wifi to turn off when 4G is on? Wifi is a far faster connection and uses less battery power. i would think it would be the opposite that you would want wifi to be the priority above 4G.

You're lucky, I only get about 3-3.5mb/sec at my house on 4G. I've gotten that same speed before on my 3G connection. :(

Anyone else have the issue where swype doesn't stay selected, I have to keep going back to settings / lang & keyboard and re select swype. Just curious .

I am having problems with my battery life. Does the overclock widget work with nighty 6??

What ways are you guys using to extend battery life?

My battery life isn't the best either, but I attribute this to overclocking. Underclocking while the screen is off using Setcpu helps though.

1) Battery life is heavily reliant on usage patterns. SetCPU helps. Just make certain that your expectations are inline with your usage. I use my phone a good deal so I carry an extra battery just in case.
2) Is there a rule of thumb about when to wipe before loading a ROM? I know if it's a new ROM, you pretty much always want to. What about if it's an update? I finally set up my new CM release candidate and like it very much. I'm afraid that if I wipe I'm going to be setting up from scratch. Do switches between release candidates require the full wipe? With the implementation of Wimax I suspect that there might be slightly more substantial changes than you normally get between nightlies and RCs.

Generally you should be ok flashing over different versions of the same ROM with just wiping cache and dalvik. If you have problems, then you might have to do a full wipe and flash again. Just make sure you do a nandroid backup of your current ROM before flashing anything so you can go back if something goes wrong.

You are correct in thinking that a full wipe means you have to start from scratch again. Titanium Backup is a big help with this. If you aren't familiar with Titanium Backup, it's a free app in the market that allows you to backup all your apps and easily restore them after you flash a new ROM. You will definitely want to buy the Pro version if you plan on flashing new ROMs frequently. I also use LauncherPro, which has its own backup function that allows you to restore all your home screens. I believe ADW Launcher (which comes already installed on CM7) also has this function.

After moving to the new nightly from shinzul's rom, titanium no longer restores apps. It says app restore completed but the app never shows up.

I had the same Titanium troubles on #6. Eventually gave up and went back to #5. TB worked just fine. I might try #7 tomorrow. After seeing lots of people having this problem, I decided to go back.

Is CM7 site down currently? I can't navigate to it on my PC and I can't download the newest ROM from ROM Manager either, it just immediately says "error downloading".

I'm able to get to it just fine on the pc. I haven't tried RM.

I finally rooted my evo and got cm7 rc1 working. I don't use the 4g service so would you recommend the nightly builds?

Also, I clicked yes to download the gmail app but I cant find it anywhere nor can I find it on the market place again. Any help would be great. Also where would I get the voicemail app also?

Thank, sorry in advance it if's been posted but I read through most of it and couldn't figure it out.

Has there been any major features (other than wimax) added to the nightlies since, lets say, build #36?

Figured out I can download the gmail app from the google gmail blog and that worked. I tired flashing the voicemail.zip thats floating around and that didn't seem to work. Any suggestions for voicemail?

Thanks
