We're getting our Droid 2 today, and chances are we're not the only ones. And we want to hear your first impressions. Post in this thread, and we'll pick one at random later today to win a free case.

Having JUST picked out the DroidX, I have to fight buyers remorse even when the X is a fantastic machine. I have a great deal of love for a thin smartphone with a physical keyboard, and if the specs on it running 2.2 are to be believed, it makes it all the harder to wait for the upgrade period to run out (in 2 years, the Droid2 will be old and slow). Someone hide my credit cards! :p

You Guys are killing me... I have the X and im thinking about returning it for this...Am I nuts?

Frankly it's not like one device is better than the other, they are actually very different. If you want a physical keyboard - get the D2. I think the size of the D1 is perfect, I wouldn't want a bigger phone, and I want a physical keyboard, so I would't want an X.

For the love of God, why can't they standardize on a button order? I can understand the different vendors moving stuff around but both Droid and Droid 2 are Motorola devices.

Droid - Back, Menu, Home, Search
Droid 2 - Menu, Home, Back, Search

Is it too much to ask?

Other than that, it's a really nice looking phone. I'm not ready to toss my original Droid, I'm still happily trapped for another year and a half but I'm a bit jealous of the physical keypad. I'm not fond of the keypad on my Droid. Removing the D-pad was a great move.

They are both great phones but going from a X to the Droid 2 you will lose HDMI out, go from a 8MP to a 5MP camera, you also add weight and thickness of the phone, and also the obvious screen size. You will gain a keyboard, a smaller footprint and 2.2 (temporally). It's really a personally preference but if you like the X why switch?

+1 on one4thewins statement. They really need to standardize the button layout.

No your not nuts at all... I actually have the D1, although, I think I am going to wait until this is discontinued through Asurion and then lose it, then get the D2. :)

Keyboard sucks

I hate those cheap "bubble" keys on the keyboard. They are cheap. Other than that, it's a very nice phone.

Think that might be a while, there are a lot of droids out there being recycled. I went through 8...

I think this is their way of trying to standardize. This is the same order as on the X. Can't speak for certain on other devices released since the D1, but maybe they're going to actually stick to this setup from now on.

I wish Google would sack up like Microsoft is doing with WP7 and make hardware manufacturers adhere to certain standardizations like buttons, button order, etc.
