Official Droid X Froyo update thread

I can confirm that the OTA can be rooted using the Droid2 method. I just did it meow and it worked fine for me. Official OTA and su access.

Easy root does the root but doesn't hold it. it reverts back to unrooted. Ill wait for an update.

after the update i checked applications and flash 10.1 is already there. no need to update anything is there?

Completed the update from stock phone and I cant keep the phone connected to WiFi. Same network I am doing this post from, and same network that worked on 2.1. Also, when WiFi boots it does not connect to 3G. Anyone else with the issue? Doing a reset now.

WiFi working fine here, will take a walk out into the yard to test the 3g - BRB - Phew had to take some walk, our new dual band router goes pretty far. All is working fine here, jumped to 3g when out of rage of WiFi and jumped back to WiFi when in range.

Really really liking this phone! Today was a great day, got 20mb cable internet installed and 2.2 on the driodX YES!

Try to pull your battery out. Restart. It may help

Not rooted. Update went smoothly. Less than 15 minutes. ONe confirmation required by pushing camera button then reboot. No issues so far. Got GMail app afterwards. Flash is installed by default.

screwed my phone up.

Was left unattended while installing, when i come back it was stuck on the motorolla M symbol. nothing else, noticed the slide tab vibrated when i touched that area, unlocked the phone, placed a call, and still M, so I think it loaded froyo but some video failure occured.

Note:
I was on the 2.1 after a 2.2 leak downgrade and this happened when I tried the leaked versions but on the first one I was able to get into recovery and clear cache and restore and it worked, this time I cant even do that.

This is the exact same symptom I'm having, except I was stock with root. I did un root before the update earlier today. WTF??? Help!

Keep getting a 'failed to update'

I unrooted...replaced the .apk files with the stock ones...but also forgot about some themed files that the nexus one theme had replaced...trying again now.

Got the update...FINALLY! But after a lil time playing with it, i noticed that the ringtones are a little louder. Still not as much as id like though. Also, some of my text messages are messed up. When i get a new text from some people it doesnt bring the newest text to the top of the screen. Also...how do i turn off the slide to unlock screen? I could do that in 2.1 but i cant find out how to do it on 2.2. I dont use it because i use the pattern unlock screen so i dont need both of them to pop up. Its kind of annoying. As of now, since i cant figure out how to fix these things, im not too happy with FROYO

Is there a way to factory reset with the external buttons? All I see is the M logo but it is working behind it..... FFS....

Up & running 2.2 at 12:59 Am. Took about 25 minutes overall. Flash looks good. Good luck on this to all others.

Never rooted, update went perfect, took a while to fully boot up and catch a signal (WiFi and VZW) but all systems go. Flipping through pictures drastically improved, Flash installed natively (and works well), and a few graphical changes.

Sorry if you already commented in this, but are you at least 40% on your battery? I think you need to be to do the update.
