Official Froyo Update on the Epic on Dec 26th?

Guess I'm gonna have to start reading all the posts on rooting...
One big plus for me is the ability to fully back up the phone.

I know that's right! I can't wait this was my 1st android device so I kind of like it now comming from webOS...so as soon as a new device with landscape qwerty I'm ditching my "Epic" as its not as epic

It'll be interesting to see how fast updates come to the *Samsung* Nexus S. Epic is still a great phone in my book. Camera and screen kick butt.

I don't think that's his point. His point is other phones in the Galaxy line in general outside the US have received and have had Froyo available for a while now. Has Samsung had problems with it on the Epic? Yes. Is it all Samsungs fault? Nope.

O i only ask because if that was so i would of found that 2.2 and download it.

Every time people pull their evos and myyouch out to show off, I take my epic out, and people instantly fall in love. This phone is impressive without 2.2. Man up and just be patient.

Easy champ... Some of us have been waiting patiently for things like Flash - for work related applications - and patience is running thin.
Just because there is nothing YOU need from Froyo, don't paint those of us that are getting frustrated with the "babies" brush.

I'm glad you are enjoying your phone. I'm glad all you need it for is to "show it off". But some of us actually depend on our devices.
Now leave us alone while we vent!

Some people are very patiently waiting for things like Flash, so I wouldn't go as far as saying there isn't one thing you need in Froyo. There may not be one thing you need in Froyo, but that rule doesn't apply to everybody.

It can be frustrating waiting for an update, but I wouldn't jump ship just yet. Because as soon as you do, the update will be here. You just have to be patient. It's hard, but that's the reality of it.

my thing is, 2.1 isnt bad. 2.2 doesnt offer a whole lot anymore that 2.1 doesnt. Market autoupdate is now in 2.1. So we are missing flash and apps2sd, few other things. I was worried about flash til i got slingbox. For xmas i got slingbox and gamegripper and i couldnt be happier with this phone lol

Go ahead! Jump ship! Once 2.2 comes out, the phone will rock large and as for me, I can't afford to keep buying phones because of missed schedules regarding updates. I came from a Treo for gosh sakes. Think I'm happy now, update or not?

The massive speed increase in Froyo, while nice, obviously isn't necessary, as the Epic is already one of the fastest phones on the market. But it's presumptuous in the worst way to assume that's the only reason we want it - many apps and accessories don't work with 2.1, for example.

Personally, Flash is one of the biggest reasons why I abandoned iOS for Android, and I was under the assumption that we'd have it months ago. Why was I under that assumption? Because Sprint and Samsung told me we would - first in September, then by the end of November, then by the end of 2010, then by... unknown.

It's bad business to make promises you can't keep, and I know I'm not the only one frustrated with Samsung's inability to roll out timely updates. This isn't the first time they've come under fire for doing so, and I'm kicking myself for giving them a second shot after getting the monstrosity known as the Instinct.

This will be the last phone I buy from Samsung. Not because I don't think they can make a quality product, but simply because I don't trust them one bit to care about me after I send them my check. Obviously emag, you don't mind being ****ed around, but I do, and I care enough to show them with both my wallet and my voice.
