Official: Galaxy S8 / S8+ Pre-Order Thread

Re: Official: Galaxy S8+ Pre-order thread

I am on Verizon and I do it about that often and pass my phone onto wife and/or children.

Re: Official: Galaxy S8 Pre-Order Thread

Spigen is already selling the cases on Amazon for $11 or $12. The same case I got on the S7 Edge from Spigen is the one I'll be getting for the S8 Plus.
Just bought the liquid crystal in black while I wait till seidio releases their surface case. Got the screen protector from Spigen as well. Hopefully it turns out to be good.

Re: Official: Galaxy S8+ Pre-order thread

LOL, really? Where else can you get a new phone every four months?
Yeah, really. JOD is advertised as a no down payment lease plan. So TMobile wanting that much of a down payment is a straight up money grab because it goes against how they market that option.

Re: Official: Galaxy S8+ Pre-order thread

Can someone explain the meaning of "JOD" ? Also does anyone know if a nice clean "Factory Unlocked" version is available for "pre-order", and where would one look for this item? Any help will be appreciated.
Jump on demand... T-Mobile

JOD = jump on demand, TMoble has it as a way to upgrade to a new phone more often. i also would like to know about the unlocked phones

Re: Official: Galaxy S8+ Pre-order thread

Verizon Arctic Silver S8+ on order here.

It's going to be a long 3 weeks, but I will also enjoy the remaining time with my S7 Edge that I got on release day. It's the best phone I've ever had, and it's not even close. Looking forward to even better things with the S8+.

Re: Official: Galaxy S8 Pre-Order Thread

Does anyone know when the official samsung cases will be on sale or the new wireless charger?

Re: Official: Galaxy S8+ Pre-order thread

I sold my Dad my S7 and a couple of cases for $165 last month! He got a hell of a deal! His S5 was dying on him so I gave him a really good deal. I still have a V20 as a back up to my S7 edge. When I get the S8 plus the S7 edge will be my backup phone and I will sell the V20 or trade it in towards a Tab S3.

Re: Official: Galaxy S8+ Pre-order thread

I ordered the S8+ in Midnight Black, with AT&T. I wish they had more pre-order incentives. I would have liked a year of Netflix or Amazon Prime. Oh well.

You sold the phone to your dad after the hundreds of thousands he spent raising you? Lol Come on Blues

If you had T-Mobile you could do it once a month since with JOD you can do it 3 times a year per cellular number. If you, your wife, and at least 2 kids have a cellular number, that would be 12 times a year? Unheard of in any other carrier.

I am on JOD and I haven't seen it advertised as a no money down deal. It was advertised as a new device 3 times a year with varying prices based on the device. It isn't even offered to new customers anymore and my guess is it's because it wasn't very financially feasible to offer it. I'm just glad I can still get it on my account because the best the other carriers have is once a year. BTW, we don't even have to pay taxes when we take a JOD upgrade. AWESOMAZING deal as is IMO.

Straight from John Legere's mouth..."You won't pay a single penny to walk out the door with your new smartphone"

He even bad-mouths Verizon for going back on their promos and now he's doing the same.

Good find on that video. He does say you can walk out with your new smartphone without spending a penny. You're right about that. I meant I never saw that as the driving force or highlight of JOD. I saw it as the advantage of getting a new phone 3 times per year but you know what? I just did walk out the store yesterday without putting anything down on my new smartphone just as he said I could. You see, that announcement came out just like every other sale I have ever seen from any company........with fine print. And that fine print said select smartphones. Sucks but it's true. I wish I could walk out with any device without spending a penny but that isn't realistic nor is it what I was promised.

Again, no other carrier offers anything near this so I'll take what I see as an AWESOMAZING deal and not feel entitled to anything more.

I walked in and made my pre-order even though I had just gotten a new phone a few months earlier and I'll go out in few months and get another new phone when the Note 8 is released.

Select phones eligible for JOD, not we'll randomly select phones and subject them to a down payment.

If you want to keep drinking the Kool aid, I guess that's great. There were enough ticked off people when they tried this with the Note 7 that they reversed course after 2 days of pre-orders.

Re: Official: Galaxy S8 Pre-Order Thread

For everyone who's ordered from samsung's website, did you click the "free activation" button when ordering, or did you skip this? I already have tmobile service obviously and simply just switching to a new device. As always I just need to pop in my simcard from my S7 Edge, right? Some people on here said they clicked the option and some said they left it blank since they're not activating a new line.

Don't forget his need of saying it's an AWESOMAZING deal every time he defends it.

It was clear that there'll be no down payment for the base model, and only need to put down payment if you jumped to a higher storage model. So in this case Samsung didn't offer a higher storage model, so T-Mobile lost the opportunity to make some cash, and decided to set the s8+ as the upgrade model, which it clearly should be it's own model. And it defeats the purpose/benefit of JOD.

If you end up keeping the phone or not jumping for a long time, then yes down payment doesn't matter. But if you use JOD as intended and jump half a year or so down the line, for note 8 example, the down payment then made it that much more expensive.

As a disclaimer, as pissed off as I am about it, I did bend over and caved to T-Mobiles cash grab and forked out the $130 for the plus, as handling both in best buy I just love the plus. But don't disillusion yourself in that T-Mobile is benign at this form of quick cash grab from one of the hottest phone of the year just because they can. They know exactly it's a cash grab and know that fools like me will eventually end up paying if they want the phone enough. And if you're saying well T-Mobile has to make money, i don't disagree with you. But don't go advertise JOD with the benefit of not having to pay down payment and then later find ways to go around that, coupled with advertising how AWESOMAZING this deal is and not following through with the promise.

Re: Official: Galaxy S8+ Pre-order thread

Just placed my preorder for the S8+ from Samsung. Through slick deals I saw an Ebates offer for 14% cash back on Samsung orders today so I should get about $150 back from them. Also added the $99 immersive pack to the deal and will sell all of that (except for the sd card).

I went with the midnight black.

well it looks like ebates is not honoring there deal, just got an email from their CS saying that mobile devices are exempted from the offer. i took a screen shot from the deal on their website, hope they honor this.

You can pre-order the cases on Amazon. I pre-ordered the protective case.
