[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

No problems with SMS here, but I can't send or receive MMS. What exactly is your issue with SMS?

EDIT: I did a factory data wipe last night (I guess that's a hard reset now - the option after holding the volume button and powering on are all different than on 2.2) and am now able to send and receive MMS just fine. Not sure that's the route you need to take with your SMS problems, but syncing with Google and apps like Appbrain and SMS Backup+ are free and indispensable.
fyi, the hardware reset is still there if the Fast boot feature is turned on. Press the power button to display the Turn off/Restart option and tap restart. Hold the volume down key and tap restart again. The phone should restart into the recovery menu.

If Fastboot is disabled, you can still do the volume down/power key option as before to get into recovery.

voice search also does not work for me while my car is moving.

If this is a safety thing then I guess it's unsafe to be a passenger in a moving vehicle and use your phone as well??

Has anyone tested this theory by turning off all GPS off and see if the voice to text works while in a moving vehicle?

Nothing to do with that. Now there is no voice to text capabilty while driving on this phone.
May not be a deal breaker for some, but it is for me. Guess will find a phone with android 2.2 that has working voice.
Deal breaker for me also.

I'm sorry if these have been noted already. This is random and not really a big deal at all, but has anyone noticed that in the stock browser's bookmarks it does not accurately sort by "Most used?" Just a little thing I have noticed recently. Also the GPS does not toggle very well even with use of the official HTC GPS widget.

my battery life has been slashed by 30%. i thought the stock battery was horrible, so i finally broke down a few weeks ago and bought the seidio 3500 extended. it was the best purchase i had ever made ... with very heavy use my phone would go about 18-20 hours. but now that i have GB, it is down to 12 hours, maybe. i even tried the phone reset, which didnt help at all. also got another new 3500 battery to compare, same problem, drainage was the same almost down to the hour. one thing i notice in spareparts is that my sense is loading up a lot, in fact the most among all processes and apps. maybe this is a bug that needs fixing? i know not everyone is experiencing this, but at least some are. this is very disheartening and extremely frustrating.

Same here. Seems to be an issue for those of us with extended batteries. Stock batteries appear to have better life. Doesn't make sence to me, but that appears to be the case

I have the same problem. The terrible part is I went to this phone primarily for the voice search function.

I purposely have not downloaded the Gingerbread update because of all the problems and bugs I've been reading about here. I have no issues with my EVO 4G, I'm very happy with 2.2. Anyhoo, this morning when I fired it up, I suddenly have a new keyboard! I checked the About screen, it says I'm still running 2.2, so I don't know where the keyboard came from. I wonder if anything else has been changed.

Has anyone received a new evo within the last week? I'm returning exchanging mine because the charging port has melted. Hoping they're not shipping new phones with the update yet!

I just got my EVO a couple months ago (first android) so I'm not sure what works and what doesn't. But I just upgraded and am having no problems.

I had to swap mine out for a new one also(two days ago), and got stuck with the new ota.....bites ass, man. I had asked the service guy to make sure the new evo wouldnt have the 2.3 and he said it didn't(it was a white one. said that they had had it for a while...), but i let him activate it and BAM.......stuck with a POS!! I am acctually thinking of putting it up for trade.....or shelving it and going back to my optimus for now...............:'(

i dont know if this has been covered yet but i noticed after the maintenance update i am not gettin my yahoo mail but my other yahoo mail will recieve. is there a fix for this ? thanks

I don't think there is a real fix. We (my wife and I - 2 evo phones) had to go to the Yahoo Mail app instead of the built in Android app - which now does not work for Yahoo Mail. The Yahoo Mail app in Market seems ok. We have been told K-9 is a better app but I am fine with the Yahoo Mail app.

Some updates and a new issue.

I just discovered the medical app "Aprocrates" is no longer working after the update. I ended up doing a hard reset on my phone and that did clear up some things. Here is my brief list:

Yahoo Mail - no longer works with the android mail app but Yahoo Mail app is ok and some like K-9 better.

Root - can't root after the update?

Battery - I have an extended 3500 and it appears to have no change after the update. Then I did the hard reset and now it appears to have MORE battery life! The battery life seems to be very individual.

Android Icons - had that problem after the upgrade and going to another scene and then returning to your current scene if fix. But - after a hard reset this problem left.

HTC Sence rebooting - did it a little my phone before the upgrade and a little (maybe even more) after the upgrade. My wife's evo does not do it before or after the upgrade.

The Aprocrates App (Medical Reference app) no longer working is a real disappointment. I called the company and they said "we are aware of the problem and working on it now." I was using the free version but useful in my work.

Yahoo mail in the android mail app is now working for me since the update. I don't know if it was because of me moving most of my apps to the sd card?
