[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

I can only imagine how many apps aren't going to work with Gingerbread right now until they update them. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

In regards to the AIM application not working after gingerbread update, uninstall and reinstall the AIM application. Worked for me.

~Bug: Actually it looks like my HTC Clock widget is an hour behind, all together, but promptly updates. Hrm...

That's actually how the flip clock works. At least that's how it has worked on previous HTC models that supported the flip clock.

Didn't see the following posted by anyone so...

Bug: When launching an App from the App button, then hitting the Back arrow to exit, the All Apps display window is still shown. It used to close behind the scenes.

Bug: In the default web browser, when you goto a page which asks for a user/pass the dialog for remembering password or not has the words truncated on the buttons in portrait mode.

Glad I'm not on call I can't even use my phone to call out.

I have these two messages:

1. Process android.process.acore is not responding.

2. Low on space
Phone storage space is getting low.

after i powered off and on i am noticing the clock widget "bug" (says ~1 hour before actual time and quickly flips to the current time). this just looks like a way to animate the flips every time you see the widget

I haven't finished reading the entire thread yet, so I apologize if someone has already posted this observation:

It seems to me what is happening is that whenever you leave the home screen, be it to go into the browser, lock the screen, reboot the phone, it is saving the home screen in it's last state and when you go back to the home screen, it updates. I am wondering if this is related to the changes they seem to have made to make the phone boot faster.

Here's what I've noticed... If I "power off" the phone and then turn it back on, it comes up MUCH faster than it used to. Blazing fast. My suspicion is that the phone is going into some sort of "hibernation" state rather than fully shutting down as it did in the past. This allows the phone to start quickly, and then update from there. If I choose the "reboot" option, the phone appears to do a true full reboot and takes much longer. Pretty much the same length of time it did with 2.2.

Does this seem to match the experience others are seeing? Is "Power Off" really just a "Hibernate"?

Personally, if the only real drawback to this is that my clock has the wrong time for a moment, I am more than happy to live with that for the faster start up time. But, with this in mind, if my phone is acting odd and I want to refresh it, I will definitely be using the "Reboot" option to get a full flush of the memory.

Ok, the no LED for text messages is my main issue, I hope this gets fixed soon! LED's for voicemail and email work great. Microphone to speak text on new keyboard not working yet in the handcent app microphone works. I'm assuming it's a new keybord clitch. Also, thanks to the ones who found the alarm glitch! I'd of been later tomorrow if not for you <applause> Oh, and the Facebook app had smaller fonts, hard to read. Am I missing something to make font larger?

If you were using wimax notifier, which now doesn't work, you need to go into the phone dislpay settings and turn the notification back on for SMS.

There's obviously no gingerbread keyboard, which is unfortunate, but I found a great alternative in the market which looks exactly like the Nexus S one, etc.

Free one: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free&feature=search_result

Paid one: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin&feature=search_result

Not sure of the differences between the two.

I'm currently using the free one, looks excellent.

In the paid you can customize key size, spacing, skin, action key and lots of other stuff. Its worth the money to get the keyboard exactly how you like it.

Nope, it's mandatory. If you don't, someone will show up at your house and update it for you. Kinda like when those guys show up to take your Stride gum. ;)

Sorry, it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that question. :)

After GB update today TuneIn Radio and Sound Hound, both from the Amazon (paid app for free) Market will not update. Market - My Apps says updates are available; both will download but then crash during install. Shows install unsuccessful. Both apps still work though so guess I will have to wait on a fix. non-rooted Evo.

Update stuck on "Checking"

I am trying to update but the screen is just stuck on "CHECKING" with the circle going around it. WTF? I tried a battery pull, and I tried on 3G and WiFi. Nothing. I'm also not rooted and never was. What gives? :'(

LOL.....

Well after a full day of normal usage after the update, from 9:20am to 7:48pm, my battery is at 70% so all in all, I'm happy with the upgrade. None of the bugs are enough of an issue for me to be unhappy with GB. I really like the GB Keyboard I downloaded from the Market. Way to go Sprint!!!
