[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

Not sure if anyone else ran into this, I didn't see it in the thread. If I have a folder on my main screen with apps that have been moved to the SD, the icons don't show up properly.Instead I get the generic android app icon - Similar to if the SD apps didn't load yet from the SD. When I click the icon the program loads properly so the SD must be mounted correctly and the icon is correct in the app drawer. It's just in those folders. I did a hard reset and an SD format after installing GB, no luck. Everytime I restart the phone the generic android icons show.

Quick question. After you do a hard reset do you have to go to software updates and reinstall gingerbread again first or does it restart straight to gingerbread? I too am getting the HTC logo when I hit "back" or "home" after I'm in am app or on the browser. <annoying>

the last OS version update installed (ex. Gingerbread) will "stick" even after you do a hard reset/factory erase.

Does anyone know if they updated Swype to a newer version that doesn't have the constant pop up

Something annoying I've noticed, playing a racing game no longer keeps the screen on, because you don't touch the screen.

I an have this very same problem and it started after the GB update. I have read that has to do with the way the SD card is being mounted after the UI is not allowing the icons to load properly. Again, this is what I have read with my searches.

That said, I have found a quick workaround that I hope will be be fixed in a later release. If you switch to a different scene, as in a preloaded one, then switch back to your preferred/custom one, the icons will load. The only drawback to this is that you will have to do it again if you reboot. I know this is a PIA but the is the best workaround that I have found so far.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but there is now a update for Handcent live to fix the Evo 2.3.3 bug. Unknown if it actually fixes it.

This update killed my memory! I have every possible app on my SD card and it still says no memory left! This sucks...

Thanks. I use a good number of folders and it was annoying. Switching the scenes worked though. Hopefully there will be a better fix soon.

Anyone seeing an issue where when you hit the Home button, you first get an HTC logo screen, then you see your home screen background with nothing and all the icons & widgets (slowly) repopulate? I know of at least 2 other people besides me who are seeing this somewhat frequently (maybe 5% of the time we go back to the Home screen).

I'm betting this, but I'm going to try that launcher pro suggestion that was put out there in this thread. Hope it works for my phone!

I use ADW EX and I can't get it to stay as the default launcher. Every time I hit the home button it goes back to the sense launcher. Its so frustrating! Any ideas? or is this just a bug?

SwiftKey voice recognition not working

I use SwiftKey keyboard and since the update to 2.3.3, the voice to text part of this app doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found a fix for it yet? Thanks.

yes it comes back. it's hardware related, not software related. word is the connector on the motherboard gets loose? that's what i was told. unfortunate that it wasn't a software problem that could be fixed :(

Yes. I have noticed this as well. While usually I only listen to cached content on Slacker because I have a Class 6 card and songs change pretty quickly, last night for grins I streamed my stations and the songs changed almost as quickly as with cached content. And no skips. This is huge, particularly if I'm gonna start paying $10 a month for Slacker.

sd card class is generally a measure of write speed, not read speed. class of the card should have no affect on song switching.

Seems to have fixed it for me. LED flash notifications have returned following the update.

After update has anyone rooted their phone either permanent or temp root like z4root, does it still work or is gb rootable?
