Both my girlfriend and me updated our Evos, manually within hours of each other. She is experiencing more problems then me. Also to note, these are brand new, less than 1 month old phones; I switched from a Droid X (Droid 2 before that), her from a Blackberry.
1.) The ever-present voicemail icon. I gave her this suggestion and it seems to have worked: Pull the battery while the phone is on and leave out for 5 minutes. Then, after reboot, update profile and PRL. Just clearing the notification in setting only rid the problem or about 30 minutes.
2.) An intermittent roaming icon (and presumably actually roaming). I've had the icon pop up at home and now at work, too. Neither are in roaming areas. It last anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes and disappears as magically as it showed up.
3.) Seriously wacky coverage indicator. All bars to no bars to 1 bar to 4 sitting in the same spot. I understand signal flux, but this is WAY more than normal (I believe this is connected to the problem above and the update has somehow messed with the radio signal)
4.) Blue halo/glow to the keyboard, or just one key - sometimes. I haven't gotten this one, but she has, and a few other people have reported it too. Apparently, switching from landscape to portrait, or vice versa, clears the problem until the next random time it happens. ( My guess would be some sort of Gingerbread bleed through)
5.) 720p camcorder is choppy as hell now. Any movement I record now looks like it was shot with blurvision.
I would agree that battery life is improved and the speed/flow of the phone is also better. I am a bit disappointed that HTC/Sprint could not find it reasonable to update Sense. I don't want 3.0, I know it won't run on this model, but at least a generous skin upgrade would've been nice.
People have a right and reasonable cause to complain about this partial update. Some people are experiencing much more than just minor annoyances BECAUSE of this update. Reading the 1000s of post since it was released on Friday prove it is causing nearly as many problems as it fixed - NEW PROBLEMS. So complain away, HTC does listen. But it will be up to Sprint to care enough to approve the distribution of any fix.
I've emailed both HTC and Sprint on the problems we've experienced. If their replies are of any substance above a form letter I will post them here.
Good luck.
