[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

Anyone else having a problem with their battery charging forever. Before the update, the battery would take anywhere from 1-2 hours to charge. Now it takes about 5 hours for me.:'(

Asi reported earlier, I'm still having the start up problem. When I turn my phone on for the first time during a day, the timer doesn't reset anymore and it skips the boot up process entirely. The phone goes directly to the home screen as of it has been on the whole time but I know it hasn't because I have just booted it up after completely turning it off. The screen then sits dim for the normal boot up time and then brightens.

To add to this I have noticed that if I take the battery out and place it back into the phone, it will then start properly.

playa have you tried a factory reset?

Just started having the default browser crash every time I go to Google.com...

yes. for shiits and giggles i tried twice playing the "guitar" on my EVO under the "Classic" Google.com and it crashed the browser both times.

it goes back to my phone's home screen. then if iclick on browser app icon it goes back to my browser's home page (cnn.com).

the Android Browser does not like that classic mode Google.com "guitar".

change your Google.com to mobile mode.

I don't think this is necessarily a problem with the GB update. Mine just started doing it since they put the guitar Google script on there. As someone else said if you go to the mobile site it works fine.

Ummm yes.
I guess I should have asked if anyone else is having problems

LOL!!! Sorry, I could not resist....

By update I assume that you are referring to the latest Slacker update and on GB? If so, I have only had one issue so far and that is a FC of the background Slacker process. I just did a reinstall of Slacker this morning so I will have to let you know how that goes.

The one thing that the GB update for me is allow for streaming of both cached and "live" streams again on 3G/4G. Before I could only get streams when using WiFi.

Hope this helps...

This is fastboot, disable it by going into settings > applications and uncheck fastboot at the botom.

No, I have not. How do I go about that? Also if I did that, would I not lose my updates and everything currently on the phone?

most of the important stuff (Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Apps) will be saved on Google if you are syncing with Google. make sure you are and everything is in the "cloud" on Gmail. i would also use AppBrain and sync with that too. in addition, i would get the MyBackUp PRO App as an additional precaution. good for future use too. there's an App in Market to save SMS if that's needed. stuff on your SD Card will remain untouched and also your Gingerbread Update will "stick" after the factory reset - it will not go away. make sure everything is synced.

Settings--->SD & Phone Storage-->Factory Data Reset (warning - this will wipe your phone).

then reinstall everything manually one by one. do not use a Backup/Restore App.

it's a PIA but it worked for many. the clean fresh booted OS runs better.

good luck.

if you want your unpaid apps to reinstall after the update you have to make sure the phone is setup to backup your data to google.

go to settings and hit the search button and search for privacy, click the only entry and check the box for backing up your data.
