[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

After viewing flash content in the browser then closing the browser my phone always reboots. Sometimes happens after downloading apps and updates from the market.

After the Gingerbread update, I continually get the HTC splash screen and then "LOADING"...all the time! Is there some way to fix this, or return to 2.2?

Sense rebooting constantly!

Earlier today I was telling my wife I was about to trade my EVO in for an iPhone. Crazy talk, I know. But this is driving me crazy.

i think someone said turning off fast boot fixes this.

I hadn't seen that and I've been having this problem in spades. I tried this and after I restarted the phone I haven't run into the problem again and I ran through a couple of dozen apps to test it out. Hopefully, this does it for good. (I have a non-rooted, stock EVO.)

Thanks!
Dave

I have Flip For Speakerphone activated but when i get a call and flip my phone, the speaker phone does not activate. Is there a trick to this or am I doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated!

glad it worked for you!

Sense

I too was having problems with sense and going back to the HTC screen all the time. I called Sprint this morning and of course the answer was a hard reset. But you know what it worked. It was well worth the trouble of re-installing. Just thought I would comment.

Calling Sprint or HTC is a waste of time if your problems started after installing gingerbread. The best solution until Sprint send the update to our phones is to performed a reset of the device. It's really not that hard. In fact in fixed most issues I was having except the infamous "ghost voicemail notification". The work around for this is quite Easy... Tap menu - Tap settings - Tap call - Clear voicemail notification. Trust me - Sprint and HTC are aware of the problems that most phones are experiencing, and are working on fixing the problem asap. (At lleast that's what I've been told)

I've seen the Sense restart problem mentioned many times. That is my primary problem too. It was happening sometimes before, almost always after using Google News & Weather Reader. Now, it happens after EVERY app use. Note: I have plenty of available memory too, so I know that's not it.
I hope something can happen to fix this as it makes the phone incredibly disfunctional when it is needed!
I've wondered if a data reset would fix it, but that seems a silly thing to have to do for this problem. Also, it means I'll lose apps that are not longer on the m
arket - both those stored on the phone and those on the SD Card. The

Anyone know a "fix" for the Sense restart?

Did you do a "factory data reset" or a "hard reset" that requires the special combination of pressing buttons?

Did you try turning off Fast Boot? That fixed this issue for me (so far, at least).

Strange problem since GB: I am forced to lock my phone with a password. Prior to GB, when unlocking the phone I would see a "generic keyboard" (I have been using Flex T9 for some time now).

Now, after upgrading to GB, I see the Flex T9 keyboard instead of that "generic" one -- however, I do not always see it! Sometimes after unlocking the phone the keyboard will not show up, I will just see the entry field for the password, but the keyboard does not display. Clicking into the text field (how you would typically make the keyboard appear if not there) doesn't do anything.

Most of the time just turning the screen off and back on and unlocking again will make the keyboard appear. But three times I have not been able to get the keyboard to show up at all. I was forced to turn the phone off and back on (thank goodness for fast boot!!) to get the keyboard to show up.

I do use widget locker, not sure if that is causing this or just the Flex T9 keyboard, or a combination of them both.

Anyone else experience this?

Menu -> Settings -> Search -> Searchable Items -> "Settings" must be checked in order for you to find the hidden "Privacy" with a search.

@wstevens,
I tried this and the settings has a check mark there but I am still only seeing the three choices that balansboy stated above. Also I am still on 2.2, have not upgraded yet....

Yes, I unchecked Fast Boot and still have the problem.
I've gone through every setting and app sort of as a Spring Cleaning after this update to see if I could do or remove anything that might affect it. I've actually learned through this how to clear up space in the memory (app storage space) that was always around the "low space" warning affecting everything else (Mng.Applic. - go through each and clear data from stuff that builds up you didn't even know built up). Still, the same problem. Free RAM memory is lower than what it was prior to GB (now around 55-60, before 70-100 ), but even that was an acceptable level once upon a Froyo.

I'm kicking myself for not rooting sooner because I'm about to lose some apps I cannot find anymore (Market or AppBrain). I've only discovered this after going through every single app I have (about 300) in this process of checking and cleaning out and finding phone memory space.
Also, my homescreens are well customized, so it will be very time consuming to set back up.
I did have a GPS bobble with it such that the settings screen doesn't want to exit when automatically opening for an app like Navigator after doing a voice command. Also, the GPS on/off settings from various sources are buggy including the basic menu/setting way of doing it, but I've managed through "luck" go get it to turn on and off although after repeated tries. I use it for navigation all the time and am about to take a major trip where it will be key.
I too have a problem with Google's My Tracks app not sensing the GPS even though it is definitely on, but I know others have had this and that it is an app issue - not OS - although frustrating as it is Google's.
I think, after a lot of forum searching, that I've figured out that a factory reset should be enough - not hard reset requiring possible programming from Sprint.
Still, I'm trying to find ways to recover apps no longer on the market - probably my biggest issue right now. Some have been renamed/re-issued, but still some others are not to be found...

if i move some of my apps to the sd card will they launch from there or will i have problems using them from the sd card? i know while some apps can be moved to the sd card they have problems working from there. if i can move and launch them from the sd card i'll definitely start moving some apps to free up some space although i have 201mb free. also what is that new app in the drawer the downloads app? also i wonder how long it'll take before we can root our phones....

Issues noticed since update to stock 2.3.3 :

Text - messages time and date off sometimes (sporatic) which makes them come in the wrong order. And no led notification of text messages.

Date/Time - when powering on device (not fastboot, but full shutdown) the clock will show London UK time and temp. for a short time and then switch to correct location and time here in the USA.

Voicemail - mentioned everywhere on board....

Battery - I still see the immediate drop from 100% to 90%...thought this was to be fixed... Still terrible battery life.

Connection Speeds - test via speedtest.net app shows the slowest speeds I have ever experienced....terrible speed after update. Less than half of prior connection speeds on 2.2 software. So slow internet times out on 3g. Horrible performance...

I am not impressed with the testing and quality control at HTC & Sprint for this release. This software has been out for some time and the modifying done by HTC/Sprint seems to have totally screwed up a perfectly good software package by Google. HTC/Sprint need to do less customizing which would resolve many of these issues.
