Official Sprint ZVD / Froyo downgrade now available

was wondering why everyone thinks this is a big deal..... yesterday night i was messing around with my phone because i really wanted to go back to stock and i just flashed the update.zip zvd file to my phone... was nervous because i was rooted and running drew's cm7 rom.... so it flashed successfully..... so went ahead and flashed the zvh update.zip file and that to flashed successfully.... dont kno yu have to go through all them steps just to go back to stock recovery

Only stock recovery can flash the radio. If your radio and rom are mismatched (ZVD / ZVH) you will likely have problems with data. Stock ZVH rom is not rootable.

As long as you understand all that, there is no big deal.

yea.... i understand you but im saying that i had a custom recovery and flashed the update.zip.... still fearing that i would brick my phone.... happy i didnt!!!

The reason it didn't brick is because Xionia CWMA put in special bypasses for the radio flash to prevent bricking. I wouldn't go ahead and give the impression any custom recovery is immune to bricking.

The vd update zip installs a stock recovery, so one less step to do. I flashed it in xionia recovery. But I was vd before. So a good option to returning to stock from a rooted vd

True, in your specific case, but in other cases you have chicken and egg problem. If you flash ZVD update.zip using Xionia CWMA custom recovery while you are on ZVH radio, you'll get ZVD rom, ZVD recovery, but still have ZVH radio. This will force you to flash ZVD update.zip a second time to get the radio flashed.

If you flash with other than Xionia CWM recovery, you can brick your phone due to not having the radio flash bypass feature in recovery.

If you start with stock recovery, you flash ZVD update.zip once and you are assured to get ZVD rom, ZVD recovery, and ZVD radio under all cases.

To your first question, that is correct.

To your second question, you can use either, whichever is more convenient. You are going to end up with stock vd recovery anyway, after the ZVD update.zip finishes installing. Use stock VD recovery if having choices is delaying your decision making.

Great stuff thanks! I had non-sprint service (credo), and it worked good, but after reboot their was no data, just voice. I could make calls but not visit websites. Menu/"About phone"/"Update Profile" seemed to fix it, or else it just fixed itself ^_^ . Now working great on ZVD

I just wanted to add how well this works. I just flashed back to 2.2 Froyo and my phone is light and responsive again!

Been thinking of trying to revert back. I have a rooted ZVH with GRom and Xxionia and it seems pretty stable except that I think my data transfer rate is much slower, I didn't do a speed test before, so it's just me thinking that. So if I want to revert, I can apply the Update.zip twice, then I have to re-root and install a new ROM? I like the GRom, but have only used it with ZVH.

No, it cannot for the question you asked. You can however do option (a) if you already have ZVH radio and want to go back to ZVH stock ROM.

If you can get to the Android logo, do this:

Wow, this is great. So just to clarify -- this will revert the radio to ZVD without needing to go through the LG update tool (which needs a Windows computer). Is this how you guys see this, too? So sfhub, you could potentially just link to this in the 2nd line of your signature?

Also question about the "wipe data/factory reset" - they say to do it after flashing the update.zip file. Does it really matter what order you do it in? This goes for basketthis' debug.zip file, too.

Checking out ZVH (potential flaws and all) just got a lot easier! thanks for posting.

what if you download the LG software for the usb and when you plug in your use to phone cord, its not recognized? That means I cant downgrade.
