HTC Released an Aluminum Phone, Now They’re “Getting The Lead Out” With Renewed Vigor in The Update Cycle | Android News - AndroidHeadlines.com
Saw this in my blinkfeed just now, had to share
Says an update has been sent to carriers that "is said to give users of the just released HTC One in the United States improved battery life and performance, as well as contain audio tweaks and camera fixes."
Well, I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch -- besides, I probably can get TWO days out of my battery with normal use, but I'm no gamer/hotrodder;-)
Still, it sounds good! Right? (Unless the carriers sloooooow the process down. Nah, that'd never happen. Right?;-)

This update already hit the UK last week, I have an unlocked One and it came direct ota. Not experimented with the camera yet but it does give more clarity to Beats. Battery life is hard to measure because it is so dependant on useage, but I'd say there has been an improvement.

Yeah the rom was was leaked a couple days ago. Sense 5.1, Android 4.2.2. Apparently HTC included the 4.2 style toggles as well, but I haven't actually drug through the code so I'm not 100% sure.

Is it just the update (batt, camera enhancements) or a new version release (4.2.2)? That's the question. Nothing has been specific. But if it just got released to carriers, expect 30+ days before it gets OTA'D and depending on which carrier you use, it could be early 2014 :)

Wow, that would be nice if that's what it has. The 4.2 style toggles I would really like as well as the inproved beats.

Hmm, the UK version didn't actually update Android. It's still on 4.1.2, Sense 5.0. It arrived soon after I got my phone so can't tell if battery or camera has improved. Is the US release a newer update?

A US update would be different as US phones supposedly shipped with the camera improvements already in them. I do believe US phones will get an update very soon with the battery/performance improvements, but I'm skeptical it will be 4.2.2 - although I'm sure we will get that too at some point in the not-too-distant future.

I just use Power Toggles instead...

Yeah, but with the toggles there natively thats one less app you need to get the functionality that should've been there in the first place. I use power toggles too btw.

Yeah, I use power toggles also but I like the drop down of stock Android 4.2.2 better. I like the look of stock with the Google+ picture in the dropdown. I may be wishing for something that won't happen, who knows.

Yeah, from the article it looks like two updates. One to match up with the UK update, and a future one with 4.2.2 and Sense 5.1 - that's the one I'd be interested in. More to see if they've taken feedback from blinkfeed/sense and improved the experience than anything

I would rather them skip over 4.2.2 honestly and just work on getting us KLP as soon as possible once it is launched.

The other stuff sounds great!

Agree ... give us the firmware updates for camera, battery, etc but focus the OS attention on KLP...

Keep in mind that we do not know when KLP will be released. Further, they cannot work on releasing KLP for the ONE until it is put out by Google. Therefore, they _cannot_ be putting any OS attention into anything other than 4.2 right now.
Would you rather they keep a bunch of programmers in "reserve" working on nothing until the middle of next week to see IF Google decides that a new version of Android is ready for release?

At Google I/O last year, Google announced hardware partners would be getting a platform development kit for the new OS 2-3 months in advance of release to speed updates.
Google will release an Platform Development Kit for hardware developers ahead of each major Android upgrade | The Verge

True, but that just means they started getting Android 4.3 Jellybean a couple months ago :P. LKP isn't coming until winter

The American htc one was released with the uk improvements to the camera. The update is different.

Yep, this is what I read too, us HTC ones already had the UK improvements on them so this must be something different.
