My wife and I got new phones over the weekend. She purchased the HTC Aria and I purchased the AT&T Captivate. Well now after playing with both of them I have grown fond of her Aria. I'm starting to like it more than the Captivate. I love the size of this thing and I have always liked HTC's devices since I also have the Nexus One. HTC's Sense UI seems to be a bit better than Samsung's Touchwiz, although I like Touchwiz ok but I like Sense better. Am I crazy?

a lot of people love that sense UI, ill tell ya. for me, i would keep the captivate b/c i couldnt fathom typing on that tiny aria keyboard. plus, i love me some media, so i would prefer the 4" super amoled screen for that

To me the keyboard is not that bad, I have fat fingers too. I know the Captivate is the better device but the Aria is so much more pocketable and convenient. The size I think is what I like most of all, although the Captivate has the better longevity.

that last sentence is key. the aria maybe might get 2.2, but nothing past that for sure. i dont think there is any way the captivate doesnt get gingerbread (3.0) and maybe beyond

I have the Droid Incredible (HTC Sense) and the Samsung Vibrant (Captivate's Tmo cousin w/ TouchWiz)...

My primary phone has quickly become the Vibrant. Because as much as I ***** about it the shortcomings it has are addressable in the Market w/ third party app replacements. I don't miss Sense anymore. But that screen and the graphics performance can't be replicated the other way. I suspect the same w/ the Aria / Captivate... so go with the Samsung, pray for a early Froyo release too, and start customizing via Market. -Pk
