As you can tell, I'm brand new to the rooting and ROM flashing scene. What I don't lack is technical expertise.

After S-off and rooting my Evo 3D, I was ready for some ROM action. I tried the senseless ROM, with the hopes of being able to use the Wii remote to play my emulators and be the envy of my friends. That ROM still uses the same bluetooth drivers that sense uses and it didn't work. So I Hbooted and flashed the Viper ROM onto my phone. This is where I thought I bricked it. The Viper splash screen would load, then after a few seconds the screen went blank. I rebooted the phone like 30 times and it still was no good.

Solution:
(Clockwork Recovery)

Take your battery out. Put it back in and boot to Hboot (holding the volume down and power key).
Next perform a Fatoctory Rest/Data Wipe. Then install your ROM. Bingo, problem resolved!

Problem 2: Oh no, I was a haxor and pushed the ROM from my PC onto my phone using ADS, am I ****ed?

Solution: No! Clockwork Recovery has a mount SD card function and you can transfer ROMs directly to the phone without it being booted to an OS. winR!

Hope this helps someone, a warranty is a terrible thing to waste.

I would like to see if this fixes the bricked phone problem? When ever I brick a PC, I always have access to the BIOS. This, in essence, might be the same thing.

I don't require any donations or thanks. I'm just trying to help out my fellow haxor.

What hboot version did you root? If you rooted with hboot 1.5 then you need to flash the kernel prior to installing the ROM (or any ROM). I use a tool called Flash Image GUI, which you can download from the market, that flashes the kernel from the ROM zip for you prior to booting in to recovery and installing the ROM. Since you are now stuck in a boot loop you may have to try to recover using adb, but I am not experienced with that process at all. I believe there are some guides out there though. Good luck!
