oh the irony....

I waited patiently for ICS for the RAZR...I can do it again for JB. Really like whats coming in JB tho.

I knew what I was getting into by not getting a Nexus phone. I knew this since 2010. All I can say is it is what it is...it could be worse....look at how many other older phones dont have ICS officially.....

I also can say I never get a phone based on what its supposed to do, be, or have in the future...I get it for the here n now.

Also think about this...we get ICS now, then go on the waiting list for JB ...sure we are behind the nexus and a few new phones but if you turn around EVERY OTHER android phone is still sitting in the ICS line...we are still ahead of most of the pack

...and we are getting 4.04. The version that just recently hit the Nexus. So we should be at the latest version (for a Verizon phone) for a little while at least.

If I understand you correctly, you're upset because Google is releasing an updated version of Android. If Google would wait for three years for every carrier/manufacturer to catch up with updates, you would probably be fine.

You know what, if you aren't married yet, don't do it. You'd be shocked to see the new and updated version of spouses that come out each year...

No I'm just saying that it seems as though these version updates seem to frequent. And unless you own the signature Google phones your only likely to get one update and then you have to buy a new phone. I like the latest also it just doesn't seem fair across the badd for all the phones. There are phones that were promised ICS and haven't received it yet. Note Theres already announcement of galaxy phones getting the jelly bean soon.

Samsung has not said anything regarding Jelly Bean.

As for the bolded part; Motorola has actually been pretty consistent with updating their flagship devices with at least two versions of Android. Case in point would be the Droid X, which launched with 2.1, got 2.2, and then 2.3.

Considering that Jelly Bean is not remotely more resource intensive than ICS, the RAZR family WILL be upgraded to 4.1. The only question is when. (and with the relative 'lightness' of Motorola's new skin, it should be sooner rather than later)

Go back and find the post on the main page regarding Cyanogenmod coming out with their ICS build. I think it says something about how many changes were made in ICS and how difficult it has been for all of the manufacturers to integrate. Although they may have had nightly builds, the fact that it took them this long to come out with the official version should help explain why it has taken the manufacturers so long

Heck, just a few weeks ago, only 7% of all devices had ICS, and it can not be much more than that now.

It is not we are the last to the party or anything, so there really should be no need for the disappointment about not having ICS yet.

However, I did find it pretty surprising that they would announce JB. Then again, it is not surprising. They are releasing one new O/S each year. The fact that it takes all of the manufacturers so much time to put it on their phones, should be a hint to the manufacturers to try and keep it as clean as possible, so that it will not take as much time to get the upgrades out, but we know that will not happen....lol
They release two a year. One every six months. (one at I/O and then one with the new Nexus phone)

Most all of Vzw phones have received at least 2 major updates, and off the top of my head Droid x Droid incredible had 3 with eclair to froyo to gingerbread. The thunderbolt started with froyo then gingerbread and is promised ics. And I bet money the Rezound, Razr will be offered jb after ics. That will be 3 major updates for those 2.
None of these phones are signature Google phones.

PS. Nexus phones aren't getting the updates much faster than the rest, and if your complaints stem from what you claim in your post, why don't you just buy a nexus phone and you won't have to worry about it!!

Actually, the Evo had three versions of Android: 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3.

Yes, you are correct and thanks for the correction,I purchased mine in August of 2010 and I went from froyo to GB and that's why I said two...

As a previous Charge owner I actually love the stability of my Maxx, including battery life and reception.

I might not even update to ICS until the first bug fixes come out.

And there is no free upgrade every two years ether....

Although some people do keep a backup activated incase they have trouble with or get bored with their daily driver.

I don't care what kind of phone you use, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence. Sent using tapatalk 2.

Ah yeah. Unless you were one of the earliest adopters you would have bought it with froyo.
