Oh, what a feeling!

There are a few simple things in life that can give a surprising amount of pleasure - clean sheets, new socks, and what I just did today: taking the stupid case off my phone and remembering how it felt to use it when it was brand new.

I did this to clean out the accumulated dust and debris, and for a change of pace, and I just chose now because I had gotten the AT&T update (even though it is not noticeably any different).

Beyond the added bulk, I'm reminded now of just how impressive the small black bezels really are. The feeling of a screen that just might be larger than the phone goes completely away when there's that big ugly lip (of wood, in my case) around the edge. The effect is actually more striking to me now than when I first got the phone, probably because I'm seeing the same screen, only now with no borders, rather than a completely new screen.

So, if you've been encased a long time (especially with a case whose color differs from your bezel), and not super-clumsy so that you will instantly drop your phone onto concrete when you do so, I heartily recommend giving this a try!

Amen.

I tend to go with thin cases, and even then, when I take it off it's amazing. I take my case off maybe once a day.

I agree with everyone that the phone feels amazing naked. But I'm not brave enough to go caseless. One drop, crack on the back glass and that amazing feeling is all wiped out

it's pretty well protected from a few drops.. I just wouldn't go around dropping it on purpose. haha

I love taking my phone out of its case! ... For a few minutes. 😜 But I totally get that feeling you are describing!

I have a clear Speck case for my V20, but most of the time I go caseless since I have a tempered glass screen protector.

When I have little kids who loves to take my phone, going caseless is really not an option. I don't think I ever go caseless on any phone

+1 one on this. call me crazy but I enjoy sitting at my desk with a microfiber cloth and my naked phone.

"dang, this phone is beautiful."

As I carry 2 phones everyday I have them in a defender type case, some times thin transparent case... But once home I remove them from the case and enjoy the raw beauty of the phone... I have G6 and Honor 8 pro

Great choices of phones you got there! And I totally like your case versus at-home method! How are you liking the AOD on the G6?

dbrand skin and no screen protector here - which, given that every device I've owned was in a case of some type (Defender at work, always) while being built out of less fragile materials is at once odd yet right. A drop onto slate flooring from a countertop left only the tiniest of scuffs on the metal edge.

Dbrand is awesome!

using drband with my two V20's.
tried different materials ( and colors, hehe) and have to say only the one for the back ( battery door) on the front are worth a buy and the one for the camera lens (just 99cents or so)

the other ones hold /break after a few months. especially where the USB-C and 3.5 mm headphone jack sits.

leather skin feels best.

Ha, little kids (including my teenagers) do not get the opportunity to take my phone!

Would you dare run just a skin and a glass screen protector?

I never used a screen protector on my previous two phones but I put a tempered glass one on the G6 because unlike cases or the old plastic screen protectors, they are inoffensive (almost like not having one on there at all).

I'm not really into skins but I am tempted to try one of the real wood or leather ones. Not for protection but having the feel of the real material on the phone, and a little more interesting look than solid black glass on the back (The solid black look on the front is great, but I think the back is boring; I loved the pattern on the back glass of the LGOG and even the platinum G6 at least has some texture there).

Back in the pre-touchscreen days it was practical to wrap your phone completely in leather-ish material, and though I'm not really sure why we did that as a matter of course, I always did. I had a Nokia bar phone in such a case with a plastic window covering the screen. After a couple years in this case, the phone actually came out looking really bad -- especially the screen -- because of the debris that lived between the case and phone. Then I got a motorola razr - not conducive to having a case and really never needed one anyway, and it was nice having it always naked.

So, nowadays, while sometimes I feel like I should have some protection for my expensive gadget, after a couple months with a case on, I always pull it off to clean things out, and then I always remember how much I hate using a case and leave it off for several more months until something spurs me to put one on again.
