Is or has anyone else experienced this problem. My X restarts every time I plug it into the charger. I'm ready to throw my phone into on coming traffic!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I really don't want any of Verizon refurbish, because I have never had a good experience with them.
Any solutions?!

My DroidX reboots everytime I plug it into the USB cord, but not when I plug it into the wall charger. While it is a bit annoying, it's not bad enough to make we want to throw it...I like my DoridX too much!:D

Well I have had it with mine, the screen goes out and doesn't come back on, constant restarts, and extreme lag!! I'm pretty fed up! That why i'm hoping for a good suggestion>

Sounds like a phone problem. I have the x and never had that to happen at all. Did you get the insurance on the phone?

Have you tried to wipe cache? Hold the home button down, then press power to boot up -->search key then volume up/down to wipe cache --> camera button to select.

If that doesn't work, then I suggest reformatting the SD card.

Good luck!

Strange. My co-worker's X had the same problem last Monday. We tried wiping the cache, reformatting the SD and last: Factory Reset.

The phone worked after the Factory Reset...so far so good.

There might be another solution, but at the time I couldn't think of any...he was pissed that we had to "re-do" his phone (screens and all) but it works now...

Hard Reset usually works because there is usually a unstable app and resetting remove all apps and data. I wouldn't blame the phone until you remove all added items from the possible problem..

There's a thread somewhere in the forum about this. I had the same problem and it turned out to be the apps that were on my SD card (Angry Birds & a couple of other games) were causing the problem. As soon as I moved them back to my phone the usb connection problem was gone.

Try to enable or disable usb debugging depending on if you have it enabled or disabled and delete the file in the android_secure folder. I had the same issue and totally random reboots on 2.2 and those two things helped quite a bit.
Funny thing is all is well with the 2.3 leak and the phone is a totally different beast; speed and battery wise. Verizon should do us all a favor and release it as is and work on it with smaller updates.

100% agree! It is easy to blame the phone, but more often than not the issue arises because of something that was done to the phone. When dealing with issues one needs to be methodical and ask yourself what was the last thing I did that might have caused this? Apps that cause conflicts is probably the number one culprit. Also, sd card issues (corrupted card or file) or changing settings. Do a factory reset as a last resort.

Try taking out the SD card and seeing it if still does all this. I had the same problem with the screen not coming back on unless I took the battery out. Found out I had a bad sd card. Replaced that, and now works perfect!

I cant even remember when it started, I have been dealing with this for so long.

Why would insurance be needed? This is a warranty issue, if it is hardware related.

I agree, it is probably due to software conflicts or a corrupted file/filesystem on the sd card. OP, if you carried over the sd card from a previous device without reformatting it in the current phone, then that may be your problem. Backup the necessary files to your computer using Mass Storage Mode, then format the sd card in the phone. After the format, transfer back only the necessary files and folders back to the sd card, if possible, in small groups and test out. Continue to move stuff over until all your files are back, or you isolate a bad file. If you don't find a bad file, then it was probably a corrupted filesystem, which gets corrected during the formatting operation.

How do i back up apps that are not on my SD card? Is there a recommended app for that. I need to do something fast my phone just restarted 5 times in the last 15 minutes!!!!!

I use Titanium Backup Pro. It is definitely worth paying for! I've also tried My Backup Pro, but prefer Titanium. If an app gets messed up (or you just like an older version better), it even lets you restore just a single app (or even data). :)

It sure sounds like an app conflict. Not all apps are friendly, either with each other or with the X.

Start un-installing your apps in reverse order of their install (as best you can remember). After every couple un-installs, do a battery pull to settle the X and see how things are going at that point.

Also, check your photos on your SD card and see if any are blank or won't open. These can corrupt your entire operation and need to be deleted. If you can't delete it directly, then do it via USB using the X as a flash drive (ie: drag/drop files and folders, add or delete like on your computer).

Another problem could be an email that is stuck in the "send" mode - worth a check anyway.

If all else fails, a Factory Data Reset should take care of the issue. It doesn't take long to re-download your apps from Market as the X can dl more than one at a time. There's a great thread with the first word of the title "Bingo..." that gives step-by-step instructions to do a FDR without automatically reloading your apps. Just do a search of this forum.

Simple test is to take out your sd card and power up without it installed. I truly believe it is something on your sd card causing your problems.

The app Astro can also backup your apps to your sd card, but unlike Titanium Backup, it only backs up the app, no data is saved.

Factory reset will make the phone like brand new again.

If your not rooted, you could sync all of your apps with app brain, then just reinstall the ones that you want. If you have root, then Titanium Backup is excellent

You will have to set up all of your widgets, wallpaper, etc. -Just like a new phone, but it will solve your problem.

Verizon techs prefer to replace a device than attempt to trouble shoot a problem, the follow the old computer IT rules, format and reload first and if problem is still present replace. When 2.2 added to auto restore option that restored apps and settings automatically they wanted to replace my device because they could figure out how to stop this.. Verizons tech support is a joke.

I really don't get why a Droid X user would save a app to the SD Card because the phone has 8Gigs to store nothing but app data, I have about 35 apps installed on my device and I still have about 5 Gigs of storage still on my device. And some of my apps are rather large in size.

Besides its not like you have a option to save anything else to this storage space, saving to the card was intended for devices with small amount of internal storage not any of the new power devices.

I just want to make sure I get my apps back after a factory reset! Both from the market and my Amazon app store. So what your saying is I don't need to back them up I will still have them!
