Ok Google not working

So I had ok Google at always on and it worked just for a few days. Since this morning however it only works on the home screen and does not work when the screen is off and device is locked. It also does not work through any other app. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Yup.. Something happened with the last update. On my mom's I uninstalled the updates and the updated it back again in the Play Store and hers worked fine after that. She had to set it up again. Others just uninstalled the updates and are working with an older version for right now.

Thanks. Just to update I restarted my phone and it seems to be working. I don't mind as long as it is a bug and not something wrong with the device . They'll eventually release an update.

This morning I tried "OK Google" from lock screen and it recognized my voice and starts to provide the answer but then screen locks again halfway through the answer. Once I unlock the phone then I can see the the results. Anyone else experiencing this?

Do you have a passcode (fingerprint, pin, etc) set up?

Your phone is working fine. That's how is supposed to operate. If it didn't someone could gain access to your phone just by saying "OK google". Defeating the point of having a fingerprint/passcode unlock.

Ok thanks. But it just seems odd that it would start to provide information and then stop halfway through. You would think it would deny any command right from the start if the device is locked.

maybe Retrain voice model? and for others wanting to know how to make OK Google work from locked device go to Settings > Language & input > Google Voice typing > "Ok Google" detection > From the Google app (turn ON) > Always on (turn ON)

Mine stopped working after I had rebooted the device. Noticed that the app had reset itself. But it's worked flawlessly since.

I'm having the same issue. I also have an issue where my phone will occasionally get stuck in landscape mode as well. Went through the Support process and I have a replacement on the way. Interesting that it seems to be a software issue but Google's techs didn't have me try to uninstall any updates.

I'm having the same issue. Hardly works anymore. Used to work flawlessly. I have Smart Lock set to unlock with my voice but that doesn't work at all. Or face recognition. Kinda sucks.

I wasn't really able to use this feature on my last phone because it drained my battery too quickly, but I'm trying to use it more on my 6P. After reading the post above, I was expecting it not to work from the lock screen, and that does make sense. And it will work from any screen on my phone, but it will not work if I am in an app. I suppose this makes some sense, as well, but I had sort of understood from friends who used it more extensively than I that it would work if an app was open, but I could be mistaken.

Can anyone clarify. Not a really big deal if this is normal behavior; just wondering if I should be looking for a fix.

Worked when I got it last Wednesday. Didn't seem to recognize my voice commands on Sunday so I did a retrain. That seemed to work.

This is happening on Samsung Galaxy 6, 6 Edge, Htc M9, etc. It will work inside the app but not on any screen like it's supposed to.

Try menu> settings> security> smart lock> and turn on "trusted voice"..

Today's update (Google Now) seemed to fix the problem for me.
