"OK Google", Personal Results, Alarm Clock after 5.1

Hello.

So I'm having a small issue while setting alarm clock using voice command. As a note I will say that I'm using pattern lock on my phone. On a 5.0.1 I'd simply say "set alarm for x" while screen was off and locked and it would respond "setting alarm clock to x" and that's it, done. It would wake me up at x. After 5.1 update, after it's done saying that phrase and I can see the progress bar going all the way to the right, the screen will promp me to put my pattern, otherwise it won't set the alarm. It defeats the whole purpose of having "Always On" and "Personal results" features on, because I still have to get close to phone and put in my pattern. I checked with SMS command and it works fine. Screen will be off and locked and it will still send it. When I turn off "Personal results" sending SMS will require me to put my pattern first which means "Personal results" feature works for SMS , but not for alarms. Can someone confirm this?

Sorry for long post.

Maybe I wasn't clear in my question or my post was simply ignored so let me try it this way...

Could someone with "ok google", "always on" and "personal results" turned on and screen locked with pattern (or pin) try setting alarm using voice and see if they get prompted to put their pattern or pin while the phone screen is off and locked? I'd appreciate it, thanks.

I tried this and it absolutely would not set a timer or an alarm without putting in the pin or code for the lockscreen! Hmmmm!

Thanks a lot! So it seems like the 5.1 update broke that "feature".... I wonder if Google is aware of this.

I simply went to the feedback tab under the google Now launcher and forwarded an email on to google. This isn't another software update. It should just be an update to Google Search and we're good.

To me that seems like the way it should work. If not anyone could pick up your phone and tell it to dial a number or something else without unlocking the phone...

Hopefully it will be fixed soon....

Hence the "Personal Results" option. It warns you before you turn this option on, saying that others might use your phone to send messages, call someone, etc. But with this option turned off and "Always On" option on, it will still ask you to unlock your phone first.

Mind you, the only actions that won't work with the lock on are the clock related voice commands. It will still call a contact or send a text message despite the lock screen, so that kind of blows a hole in the privacy theory. It's a bug that needs to be fixed.

After reading these posts I noticed my OK Google detection was acting strange. It wouldn't respond at all when the screen was locked or while some apps were running and it wouldn't allow me to retrain my voice without a reboot.

This is what I did to get things working as normal:

Google Now -> Settings -> Voice -> "Ok Google" detection -> Delete voice model

Power cycle your phone. **It would not allow me to retrain my voice until after the reboot.

Go back to the settings and Retrain voice model.

Ensure that Always On and Personal results are on.

Test it out.

As of now everything is working exactly as it should. I use a pin and it didn't ask me to enter it when locked with screen off and setting an alarm.

With "Always On" feature ON and "Personal Results" feature OFF, it will ask me for my pattern, whether it's sms, call, alarm, so that works as described. But with "Personal Results" feature ON, it will send sms, call, bypassing my lock screen, but it won't set a stupid alarm (keeps asking for pattern). It's weird...

Tried that. Didn't work. Thanks for trying.

Didn't work for me either!

Bump, for this problem.

Also -- I can't find the "Personal Results" toggle. I've seen people post screenshots of it in:
Google app > Settings > Voice > OK Google Detection -- right under "From Any Screen."
But in my settings, in that spot, I don't have Personal Results. Instead I have "Trusted Voice."

I'm using a Galaxy S5, fully updated, Android 5.1.

Works fine for me, no need to enter my unlock method. I have no concern about personal results being on since I have Voice trained my phone to recognize a different statement than "OK Google"

w/the nexus 6 its settings>Language & input>voice input>enhanced google services settings.
or even better Swipe left to ok google screen, settings>voice>ok google Detection

Could you tell me how you did that? I tried training it with "wake up" instead of OK Google but it kept telling me "Sorry, something went wrong."

Ah, I see. I read somewhere else that, "The new phrase’s inflection must be similar to the default phrase" so I tried "wake up please" instead of just "wake up" and that seems to have worked.

So, now the phrase "wake up please" will wake the phone from sleep, but it appears that I still need to say "OK Google" for other activities...

Sullie714:
Thanks for that... but it doesn't help me. I followed your path, and it takes me back to the same settings screen I described before, and I have an entry for "Trusted Voice" but no entry for "Personal Results."
Must be a phone/version thing...

So, I still have the base problem of this chain -- when my phone is locked, I can tell it "OK Google" and it responds as if it's going to do something; it recognizes my voice command... and then it does NOTHING. I still have to enter a password or fingerprint to unlock it.

According to https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/6031948?hl=en -

Trusted voice: When you say "Ok Google" from a secure lock screen and we're able to recognize the sound of your voice, you can ask Google to do things for you or visit sites without having to unlock your device.
Personal results: See personal results for your voice searches, even when your device is locked.

I am running stock 5.0.1 on a Nexus 6; I have the "Personal Results" option but see no sign of "Trusted Voice."

So, I still have the base problem of this chain -- when my phone is locked, I can tell it "OK Google" and it responds as if it's going to do something; it recognizes my voice command... and then it does NOTHING. I still have to enter a password or fingerprint to unlock it.

I know it's been over 6 months so I'm guessing Google forgot about this / doesn't care. But still... has anyone figured out a workaround or a fix for this?
