OK google unlocks my phone

I have google trusted voice settings on my S7 edge so no reason you shouldn't have..

Open the google app, go to settings/ voice/ ok google detection/ trusted voice.

I don't use it on my phone personally because I have an android wear watch and use ok google via that.
I don't have an Edge. The setting is not there. I wish it were.

I've had 4 friends try so far.. soon as they tried it popped a notification that the voice was unrecognized and the phone must now be unlocked via PIN or Fingerprint.

My son can unlock my phone all day everyday with his voice. And I can also unlock his.

Very weird. No one can unlock mine yet :).

Well our voices do sound alike and I'm willing to bet that someone with a similar sounding voice to yours can try to sound like you and unlock your device. Trusted voice is not super secure, but secure enough.

Trusted voice is more of a convenience than for security. In fact if you set trusted voice Google does warn that someone else can unlock with similar voice.

I didn't think there was a difference in the two apart from the edge features. Here's what I see

It doesn't make sense that retrain voice model would be there and not trusted voice. I mean, what would be the point?

Just wondering out loud: is it possible that you have to enable SmartLock before the Trusted Voice option appears?

My S7 doesn't have SmartLock. It must be an Edge setting.

Smart lock is under settings/ Lock screen and security/ Secure lock settings on mine. I don't have it enabled on mine so I doubt this is the cause of trusted voice not showing.
@N4Newbie what carrier are you on. have you asked in the S7 forums to see it trusted voice is definitely only on the S7e.

I don't have that setting/option.
Edit.
OK, I have found Smart Lock and Trusted Voice on my S7, however, it does not show unless Lock Screen is used/activated. I enlisted a four digit PIN and the setting suddenly appeared on the Lock Screen menu. With no security, the Smart Lock with trusted voice option is not listed.

Yeah I assumed that some type of lock protection was being used, Trusted voice is used to bypass the lock screen.

Actually, I am currently using a Pixel XL on Google's Project Fi network.

I work at home as well as keep my phone in my pocket when it is with me away from home. I would have to be robbed in order for it to end up in someone else's hand. There is no need for me to lock it.
Seriously. I'm OCD and my phone is a part of that curse.
So.....there in is my non-familiarity with Trusted Voice.
That's probably the only setting I've never seen.

I Had a bad experience late last year where I was robbed, so all locks are on, as well as all the security features from both Samsung and Google to find my phone.

I would have to be robbed in my home. As I said, I work at home, I'm in my early 60s, age wise, so I'm home from dawn till dusk. I haven't locked a phone in many years.

I know how to use "locate my phone" though. In the sofa, next to my bed, left in the hall bathroom, etc. ;)
