The moto x had special hardware with low power cores, but since then Qualcomm has integrated that sort of performance.Being on all the time listening for a command would seemingly kill the battery standby time. Far as I know only phones with dedicated hardware do that. If the G4 has the stuff to do that it would be great.
Is this something that works with the default launcher or only when using the Google Now launcher?

Even my note 3 has that capability. Haven't used it on my g4 but I suspect it would work. Worse case if battery drain is too high, just turn it offBeing on all the time listening for a command would seemingly kill the battery standby time. Just get an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus or SE, and 'hey Siri.' The M9 coprocessor has special DSP hardware to listen at all times with almost no extra power usage.
Not trollin'. I heard there's a patent on it. I actually thought OK Google is a bit nicer than Siri, but then again, it spies on you way too much. *shrug*
