Ok, I have to ask....

I love tablets.. I've been using a slate Windows XP tablet for 4 years now made by Motion Computing. It's quite a bit bigger than the new styles (ipad & galaxy tab) and I love the flexibility. I have all the accessories - dock, keyboard, etc.

But I have to ask... as much as the gadget-geek in me REALLY wants a Galaxy Tab....

I'm having a hard time with the justification (other than I WANT it!)
Exactly what can I do with the Galaxy Tab that I can't do with my Epic 4G??

To start off with, you can probably do more with you with you Epic than you will be able to do with the Tab. My reasoning behind that is that not all of the apps made for Android are formatted for the larger screen (and your Epic will run 4G). The larger screen will be nice for viewing things like web, ebooks, emagazines, etc. No one really knows what the future will bring for the Tab and other tablets. Here's is my main reason for wanting one. I want to be able to have my media on the Tab so that others don't have to handle my phone when viewing/listening/reading it (well that and I'm a gadget-geek too).

Its not really about what you can't do on your Epic. The era of tablets coming our way is based on mobile Operating Systems, which means Android, iOS, WebOS, etc.

You will be able to do everything on your Epic that you can do on the Tab, the difference is real estate and its usage. If you have ever compared an iPod Touch to an iPad, you will know that both do the exact same things, however, the screen real estate on the tablets renders for much more user interface methods, which will provide the user with a friendlier user interface overall.

Take for example your calendar app on the epic. Its good, yes, but imagine what you can do with the extra 3" of screen space. Look up SamsungMobileUSA on youtube, and they have a video of the Tab doing some productivity stuff. You will notice that the screen size makes the biggest difference in the world.

It will be easier for you to do things like browse, email, tweet, Wiki just because of the form factor. It won't be nearly as powerful as your slate.

I'm thinking about it as a coffee table accessory, something to grab quick and look up sports info or a game walk through or info about an actor, etc.

My sentiments exactly. I can see me using it to keep visible ticker of sports scores on my coffee table on Sundays. However, I can't help but feel that I should wait for someone to release a "proper" tablet. One with an Android OS made specifically for larger screen.s Its like I have buyers remorse already, and I haven't even purchased it yet.

For me, I wanted to have the tab as one device for multimedia, gaming, AND a phone. But when I found out that the tab was not work as a phone, that set the deal for me with Epic. And I'm quite happy with it. Just one thing I can't understand is: why did samsung put a vga front cam on the epic when they easily could have put 1.3mp on like on a tab.

I thought the Tab was a phone, and did in fact have a front facing camera. Did Verizon remove those features from their version?

I believe all the tabs slated for the U.S., and maybe Canada, don't have the cell phone capability in them.

U guys are forgetting about the app called Tango the tab is going to be great for that and yes it works. I got to play around with the tab and the iPad at the the same time. I really didn't think i was going to like the tab. I thought it was going to be to small but its not. For the book reads its the same size as a paper back book and looks great. It's light, a lot lighter then the iPad. Which reminds me of a boat anchor. Plus u have the option to activate the data that's built in. Don't have to have your phone or a model hot spot with you. It's all about option these days.
