OK I'll admit it, the G5 is a complete fail

Faster than HTC 10???? Can you support this statement bc from what I have read and seen, the HTC 10 is faster....
Well my subjective view tbh. I noticed on YouTube videos LG G5 seems to be faster when navigating the Android system menus and folders compared to HTC 10...

There will be a host of negative things about the HTC 10 as well. Stop searching for the perfect phone. Your next phone is only your next phone, until you buy your next phone.

BTW - until someone else makes a wide angle camera...not sure how I can replace this G5. One of the best features of any phone out there (especially if you travel alot).

Well actually, you can reproduce a similar wide angle shot using the panoramic camera setting.

Panoramic setting is much slower and not good with shots with people. You're at the mercy of the stitching software and usually takes more than one attempt to get it right. G5 you just open, snap the picture, and keep moving.

holy words bro. Holy words.

Well... QC issues have a history of working themselves out. It's not like LG doesn't have a history of such things (re: the main board issues that plagued early production runs of the G4).

As far as a 'fail', I wouldn't call it that. I will say that I personally think that LG kind of missed the mark by using it's G line to experiment with modularity. They should have produced a one-off phone like the G Flex instead. In the US, we're only getting that camera module out of the deal, and reviews have been fairly lukewarm for that bit of kit. I think that LG could have produced a much better phone had they ignored the whole removable chin and just evolved the G4 further... go bigger, not smaller, with the battery.... improve the main camera along with the addition of the wide angle lens, etc. I just don't see that the utility gained with the module slot outweigh the compromises to the design that those choices required.

LG just picked a bad time to play around... Had this been last year, when it would have had to contend with the S6 and M9, neither which set hearts a-flutter, it might not have been received in quite the same skepticism. But it dropped at a time when Samsung really nailed the S7, and even HTC looks to have put itself back on the rails with the 10.

Yea, I think you've nailed it. They really picked a bad time to do what they did. I hope, though, that if they recover from it they will wow us all with the G6 and perhaps the V11.

No surprise. I love the build. Also, I get 4 1/2 - 5 hours screen on time. I don't care about the mods.
Or better to put it as I've had the phone since launch, some dude sitting in a park reviewing it is not going to change my opinion.

I don't know. The only phone I've had with the Snapdragon 820/4 gigs of ram is the G5. I'm not saying it's faster than any phone, but I'd put it up against any phone.

The reviews have already proved your statement as void, busted, debunked, obliterated. Like the avi though...

For all you guys with more than one phone

If I use two phones on the same account do I have to constantly swap SIM cards or can I get two SIM cards and just turn one on at a time

Doesn't seem to be isolated to early production G4s, though.

It's most prevalent in 505s - 508s, but later batches made all the way in November (and perhaps December) also seem to suffer from it.

The build does have issues but they are minor. The review sites are there to be super critical so no surprise they rip the LG as it is not perfect but no phone is. As for the doof in the park, well that was just an awful review and short sighted analysis.

In all fairness though, phones have improved to the point where you have to be super critical... even 'slow' phones are fast. Crappy displays are still miles better than ones from a few years ago, cameras have improved by several orders of magnitude, etc. The current crop of 'flagship' class phones are just so good that in order to differentiate, you have to nitpick.

So what we are left with is phones that are rarely judged on their own merit, but judged against their peers. And that's a tough crucible as we have a growing lineup of bang-up awesome devices.

I just wanted to jump in and say that I'm sorry so many people are disappointed in this phone. I can definitely understand the complaints, but I rather love it!

I always put a case on my phone so I'm glad when I'm not covering up a beautiful design :)

My G5 gets great battery life and it gets me through my entire day; I only charge it overnight. Obviously, the camera is excellent. The speed of the phone is just outstanding as well.

Just wanted to say I love it and I'm sure others will find the phone perfect for them as well.

^^^^this

I don't want a glass phone, love the second camera, IR blaster, replaceable battery... So this over the S7... If you have different priorities, then S7 or HTC10 for you. All flagships are a good choice for 99% of the phone buyers.

I'm not concerned about manufacturing issues on any of them because I have never had a Verizon store refuse to get me a different one. I mean, it sucks but whatever.

I'm in the can just buy another phone category though, so my criteria might be a bit different. I usually buy the whacky one and see how it shakes out.

That said, thread title is a bold statement by someone who I believe doesn't have the phone. So take it as you will.

LG G5 takes the award for the worst flagship in 2016..... what was LG thinking. Pathetic for such a big company to come up with such an inexcusable ugly plastic phone.
